Of all the clues he could've given, size is about the most ambiguous one he could've given for king/dinosaur, and insanity is not normally one to do that if there are better obvious clues available.
Buuut I like everything else a lot less so I guess I'm fine with it, and I suppose if tooth is assassin I could see him taking an abundance of caution. Or something.

I suppose you can't clue tyrannosaurus because of the -saur part. But rex is the better clue anyway.

It wouldn't be fine because it has the same meaning in both words (lizard).
I think I remember the game you're talking about, but that was just 2 words that happened to have similar letters. Can't remember what it was, but it was the equivalent of something like slot vs sloth. Completely different.
As for this clue, I think we just have to go with dinosaur and let the chips fall where they may. We shouldn't have to be thinking this hard about what other word works.

maybe so, feels wrong but maybe insanity thought Rex/Tyrannosaurus were sketchy and something like Godzilla could hit Bridezilla
