Greta is no different than Katie Perry or Justin Trudeau that lecture us on climate change yet seem to have no regard on their personal lives . Take Perry big climate activist yet for fun she launched into space. The amount of carbon that took is unbelievable . Also how is Great suffering other than the mental anguish of climate change that yes I think will effect her later in

I feel like somewhere in lozen's life (probably middle school), he came up with the idea that whataboutism is the perfect conversation mechanism, can be applied to any topic at any moment and it works (from his point of view).
Another way of looking at it is he gets completely shits on every single time he uses this.
So maybe it's intentional and he's actually some kind of masochist that want to be ridiculed on a daily basis.

No it amazes me folks will have a standard they expect people they dislike to take yet give a pass to the ones they support. The amount of whataboutism with Graham Platner here was off the charts but I never waste my time pointing it out

I am only talking about the way you behave on a daily basis.

Like why you care about immigration , don't you care about the overweight people ?
Why you care about fentanyl at the border, don't you care about wind turbines and salty food?
And so on and on.

Sadism and masochism run together.

Trump's father was a sadist. Maybe lozen has similar childhood trauma.

Lozen is blind.

Someone tries to do him and favor and point out the way his mind goes to extremes to find fault with someone like Greta. He creates an impossible standard in which virtue is described as someone who takes a stand on every conceivable societal ill when no one has the bandwidth to do so.

Therefore, everyone who is not comprehensively perfect is awful.

It's becoming clear now what kind of mind tripping his upbringing involved. People subjected lozen to impossible standards of virtue and made him feel inadequate. He's getting revenge on the world for making him feel that way.

Lozen .... Greta isn't your mom and dad. It's not her fault that you were treated that way as a child.

Childhood trauma is relatively ubiquitous. Some people get lucky with enlightened parents but not most.

There is a path out of those patterns. But grieving is work. You can't just push a button and let go.

Nothing more annoying than a loud woman, amirite fellas?

Not as annoying as a loud man, but close.

It's the high-pitched squeak/squeal of a loud woman that can be most annoying.

She's not mentally ill.

She has Aspberger's. She neurodivergent and therefore less filtered and more authentic than most people.

There's nothing wrong with her cognitive processing.

So, Asbergers's is not in DSM-5?

So, Asbergers's is not in DSM-5?

What Is the DSM-5?
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, often known as the “DSM,” is a reference book on mental health and brain-related conditions and disorders.

Greta has an identifiable condition. Her condition is not associated with cognitive deficit. It is associated with acclimation to common social conditions.

Nature produces a variety of conditions which benefit the species as a whole, despite the fact that those conditions may represent a hardship to those afflicted and those closest to them. People like Greta exist for an important reason, just like people like Trump exist for a reason.

Greta's value lies in her ability to transcend social norms and stand up for the principles which are important to her while the norm is to remain silent.

Lots of important people had these traits which would land them in a DSM-5 diagnosis. Winston Churchill and Ted Turner were great examplse of successful leaders who had a bipolar condition.

Greta is clearly neurodivergent. To say that she is mentally ill is a means of discrediting the veracity of her claims. There is nothing wrong with her logical processes.

Thanks for the clarification wrt Greta not having a mental illness.

I never discredited Greta based on her having any kind of mental disorder or condition. According to her wikipedia page she suffered from depression and other conditions long before she became aware of the climate crisis.

And I lauded Greta in an earlier post for directing her anger into a cause greater than herself. That's very rare, and very commendable on her part.

I once had a Pastor who suffered from severe back pain. He would encourage us to turn our misery into ministry!

I don't subscribe to conventional and shallow definitions of mental illness.

All of our traits have been pretty well scrubbed by evolutionary processes. If something wasn't useful in some fashion, then evolution tends to no longer allocate resources to those traits.

Nature has an amazing feature called epigenetics. The ability to trigger a change in programming based upon the environmental conditions which are present at a point in time. Our DNA is not fixed at birth.

The environment at this point in time summons people like both Greta and Donald Trump to the forefront. People who have the genetic potential to behave as they do.

Greta and The Donald represent alternative pathways to the same problem. She represents the impulse to fix it. He represents the impulse to deal with the consequences of not fixing it and a willingness to choose who lives and who dies.

The label of mental illness is just a label. It refers to the ability to function in the status quo environment. But the mental health profession is completely deficient in its inability to diagnose a defective societal status quo. They opine only on individual mental health, not societal mental health.

We have a sick society. Rising mental health issues is a reflection of that sick society. There's nothing objectively more wrong with people who can't function as enablers of it than the people who function well within it.

I find it funny that the folks on the extreme side of topics on the left and right can't engage in a debate on the topic their go to is to insult and degrade the person they are arguing with
The funny thing is I agree with you that climate change is a serious issue

Is the bolded really true? Seems badly sensational / stereotypical to me.

Badly sensational?

Can you translate that into English please?

. People with Asperger's tend to say what they are thinking without the social filter “neurotypical” people employ. They might comment on somebody’s race, beer gut, or disability without any awareness that such a comment could be negatively received.

Yes it is. Environmental 'epigenetic' factors may alter its functioning by activating or de-activating certain genes, but your genome remains the same. And epigenetic influence is not always benign, since it can, for instance, trigger cancer.

I think one of the personality traits that someone like Greta possesses is that they refer to the world very literally.

They work within a sort of rulebook. Someone hands them the Ten Commandments and it says "thou shalt not lie" and it becomes a rigid behavioral code.

Most people lie. It's not ideal for survival to always tell the truth. You get what you want by telling people what they want to hear. And people are hungry for compliments. They become putty in the hands of those who tell them they're wonderful. So, that's the norm ..... the Dale Carnegie disciples who practice making friends and influencing people.

Greta is like the kid in the fable "The Emperor's New Clothes". Yelling out that the emperor is naked.

It's a very unrealistic fable .... in reality, the king probably has the little loudmouth executed.

In Greta's case ..... the petro-masculine mob executes her character. It's a pure mob mentality.

Lozen is simply part of an angry mob. He's not thinking for himself. He is blindly following the directive of tribal leadership. The individual members move together like a school of fish.
