2026 Poker Hall of Fame Finalists Announced
Multiple people can potentially be inducated into the HOF. Every inductee who receives at least a two-thirds vote from
Yeah, the voters probably knew who seemed to be good or beating the big mixed game, which doesn't run that much any more. Having a reputation for beating nose bleed cash games is a legitimate qualification.
Part of Isai's problem is many of the voters were voted in before 2000. Some of them hardly know what online poker is, so don't see the big deal about Stars.

There is not a single living member of the hall of fame who was inducted before the year 2000. The person inducted the longest ago that is still alive is Lyle Berman in 2002.
Whatever, most of the living members probably haven't played much online and don't know much about Poker Stars.

I really don’t this this is true.
It would surprise me is Isai wasn’t elected.
It would also somewhat surprise me if Deeb -was- elected this year, though I think he gets in next year in any case.
Online has been a thing now for 20+ years. You'd expect that to be recognized.
RTA may bring us back to live, but online had its glorious time.

The following 20 of the 33 voters may not understand fully the importance of online and Stars. Many of them, are not known to have played online. Some are business types, tournament directors, etc. Some may not have played much recently.

At bare minimum, you're wrong about:
Tomko ran online sportsbooks and was involved in UB
McEvoy was a sponsored pro for Stars under Isai
Nguyen, Mortensen, Hennigan, Seed, Elezra (maybe some others too, they had so many it was hard to keep track) were all sponsored pros with Full Tilt and some had more involvement than that
Well, a lot of them still don't know much about online poker, and online poker is declining due to solvers, etc.

That's too bad.
Phil Galfond was the strongest internet player not named Phil Ivey prior to BF, and continues to provide awesome things for the past 15 years.
Is he still among the best PLO players?

If they haven't followed poker closely enough in the last 15 years to know who Isai is, they probably know very little about most of the nominees. This would be a fair critique of the eligibility for voting. But I'm pretty sure former PokerStars and Full Tilt sponsored players are aware of the circumstances which would merit his induction, and his name has been loudly advocated for the last decade.
I would think Koon, Sheinberg, Seiver, and Deeb are the contenders. I would be really surprised if any of the others got in.
When does it get announced? Is it not until the ME FT in 2 1/2 weeks?
