The Democratic Party's Slide Into Irrelevance

Imagine the irony leading into the South Carolina primary in 2016.

You have Bernie Sanders who was arrested in the early 60's during a Civil Rights protest on behalf of black tenants and Hillary Clinton who was campaigning for the guy (Goldwater) whose claim to fame was opposing civil rights legislation at the same time.

Then you have a corrupt mf like John Lewis who made his bones alongside MLK Jr come out and say that he didn't see Bernie during the civil rights protests. Technically correct, because Bernie was in the midwest .... but completely designed to steer the black electorate away from Bernie.

Was the media covering the actual contrast between Clinton and Sanders in the 60's? Absolutely not.

So .... black voters followed their Uncle Tom tribal leaders like Obama, Clyburn and John Lewis., They don't care that Trump won ..... their priority was making sure Bernie didn't. And they were successful.

Lewis later backtracked on his statements ..... but the intended damage was done.

Reagan won 49 states in 1984 and the Dems pivoted to Boomer friendly policy that made inequality explode and ruined the social fabric.

Now Boomers are dying off and its time for a new generation with different priorities to take over. Obama's legacy is basically a complete failure. Inequality expanded. The Democratic went down the tubes electorally ... his coattails were non-existent. Fracking exploded and climate change is going nuclear.

But he got rich :-) And he gets to go jet skiing with Richard Branson, golfing with Steph Curry, partying with Beyonce' and sitting in Steve Ballmer's box at NBA games. An icon of coolness.

He's a neolib and that's the disease the party has to rid itself of if they want to regain relevance.

The reason Obama is so dangerous is that his ego is an obstacle to the party's evolution. A successful progressive president is going to shine a light on the contrast between that future leadership and his failure.

You think Obama welcomes that contrast? Sorry to pop your bubble .... he's doing everything in his power to defer that day as long as possible and sit on his psychic throne of empty popularity.

He's no longer POTUS ... but he's still the party king and it rots under his rule.

I believe the idea that the system is not completely rigged is a fantasy.

I read a post recently about a guy who had a list of 22 policies that 80% of the public agrees upon and that Congress simply ignores. The rulers don't give a damn about the plebs. They own both parties. They own the media. They own the SCOTUS. They own law enforcement. They own the military.

Obama is a lord. He has his mansion and his chummy speaking arrangements and his elite friends.

He's not Jimmy Carter spending his life fixing poor people's homes. He likes playing king. That's his version of masculinity. His customers are the people who pay him the $500k and bestow that kingly status upon him.

History will judge Obama's biggest failure as the Paris Accords.

No commitments. No jurisdiction. No enforcement. All empty posturing to create a veneer of credibility with no substance behind it.

His daughter is pursuing a career related to filmmaking ..... doesn't want to use the Obama last name. Imagine the shame of growing up in a world which is so callous to her generational cohort and your father is a poster child for that Boomer generation neglect of Gen Z.

Look at the volumes of political threads in this forum. The absence of criticism of a recent American president is astounding and is only explained by the teflon his race provides.

I think all presidents should be held to the same standard, regardless of race.
