Actually it sounds as though you are missing the point. From just hearing your side and not the other side, it sounds like you acted on nothing more than a verbal agreement (at best) with nothing in writing.

I realize that you can form a multi million dollar contract by text messages. You just haven’t provided any evidence of one, let alone a payment despite ban clause was agreed to. Losing your **** over 5k is pretty baller though.
