The Democratic Party's Slide Into Irrelevance
Attaching a poll ... Dems unfavorability rating increased from 45% to 57% during the Biden Administration.
I mean, yeah. That’s privilege.
It is. But I think we might be kidding ourselves a bit on how tribal people have become versus what they think is actually going to make things better.
I mean, Mamdani's most controversial stance, a position that's both worthy of calling him a communist as well as a savior to the party is a policy that prevents renters from having their rent increase 2% a year.
You can definitely argue that people like Trump is a credible threat to the entire world, but I think we deceive ourselves a bit with just how much we think some of these other issues actually matter when we are talking about Fetterman or Platner.
I think Luckbox might be the only one who cares less than I do on who the next president is.
I suspect that it might end up being someone further to the left-- like an AOC type or AOC herself.
The old model was that Republicans and Democrats were basically identical but I feel like they want to move us to increased polarization and that the election of Trump and everything that he's done is the first step there. Even if that isn't the intention I think it will be difficult for the US to move back to the pre-Trump status quo.

Well ive been up for 30 hours with electrical issues so my mind is garbarled atm, but I really dont think its all as choreographed as you say but who knows. My point is is that politics is extraordinary addicting and tribal. Sometimes the merits are rational so.etimes they are overblown.
The old model was that Republicans supported big business and low taxes while Democrats were pro-labor and working class.
There is no such as a labor movement in the US any more. We have had a $7.25 minimum wage which hasn't increased for 17 years.
Now Democrats have joined Republicans as supporters of big business and low taxes. They are much more similar today on economic policy. They differ on identity politics.

what’s the minimum wage in democrat controlled states nut nut
you realize state minimums supersede federal minimums right?
20 states are at $7.25.
Working full-time that comes to $1,200 / mo before tax. $1,125 after SSI removed.
Which jobs are worth that little ?
You’re right that there is no labor movement. There is not even labor consciousness. Americans do not even know that their political identity is Labor.
Marx called this False Consciousness. As opposed, obviously, to Class Consciousness. It’s a fundamental disconnect that hides Capitalist exploitation and inequality.

Do you want higher wages or no wages with the govt covering food and rent? The issue I had was what were the "additional perks" for doctors.
Now ... let's say that there is a type of job where the skills to perform it are rare or require a large sacrifice (many years studying to become a doctor) or the job is not so desirable (like cleaning toilets). In that case, the community can decide to offer some perks to the persons doing those jobs. I would allow for situations where people are capable of contributing and r
But your second paragraph sounded similar to some kind of voluntary association where i could decide to work for minimum wage and live out of my truck if I wanted - if trucks existed.
I think Maine voters deserve a ton of blame for the Platner mess as there were pretty much only red flags with that guy. But all the big time Dem establishment people like Sanders, Khannha etc not doing their homework was worse.

To be fair it’s also pretty weak that the sitting democratic governor could not secure the nomination against him.

UBI is not a wage ... that corresponds to govt providing necessities.
I don't mind people living in trucks or RV's if that's what they want. It's driving them unnecessarily that raises issues.

Would it be okay if someone could seek out a membership to a community that offered a job cleaning toilets for $7.25 a hour and the food and living was on them?
Could I invent and sell a Bioreactor toilet that composts faster and sell them for $7.25 in my community and use it for my own garden to feed me?
You don't have to answer the question because I obviously know what the answer was.
But what happened was that the Slackers have been using those toilets for three months now without you realizing it and have been making the best sweet potato pie in town and now your pool cleaner didn't show up for his cleaning shift. Now the women in your community are none too pleased because the man also happened to provide the orgasms and is about to attend his wedding with one of your Captains.
You're going to have to purge the slacker community and they're just down the street.

You deserve points for your creativity.
