Music: What are you listening to today?
In the spirit of the books and movies threads, here's one to talk about what you're listening to lately and what you hav
& who amongst us hasn't considered tossing their significant other overboard while at open sea?
Apparently it crossed Phish lyricist Tom Marshall's mind at some point.
Hadn’t heard this one in ages and it got me thinking. Had Becker/Fagen & Henley/Frey been friends the way Clapton & Harrison were, WAGs aside, can’t you er, picture, the Steelys guesting on this one, and the Eagles on Hey Nineteen?
Fat was a 1970/80's western Massachusetts institution. I can't begin to count the number of times I caught them at the Rusty Nail - a roadhouse up in Sunderland, about 15 minutes north of UMass-Amherst. Heinekin on tap. Artists I saw at the Nail included NRBQ, Eight to the Bar, Rick Derringer, Johnny Winter, Bonnie Raitt, Andy Pratt, Max Creek, Pousette-Dart, Warren Zevon, K
this is awesome. when i posted i was 100% thinking here is an obscure band surely no one has heard of.
i have a new favorite band
I no longer want to be in the room when it happens but there is nothing in the world like amps turned up until they literally destroy parts of your body.
One more brutal, punishing set.
Godflesh - Industrial Sludge Doom
This is probably the Dead’s Wall of Sound. The only thing i know about it is it was designed by Owsley the Acid King.
Managed to catch (at age 15) one Wall of Sound show; 6.30.74 in the Springfield Civic Center.

The Dead always found the mix in the Civic Center - perhaps never better than that evening.
Just found out from the radio that Bobby Z is in town Friday night.
I’ve seen him multiple times, and I don’t think i’m gonna pay hundreds of dollars to leave my house and watch 85yo Dylan slowly shuffle through his catalog.
But it’s close.
had never heard the story of the Rusty Nail Inn until today
thought this local piece to be a nice nostalgic summary, including perspective from Fat vocalist Peter Newland (commenting only on his resume, not appearance) and a long time Nail sound engineer
and for those also hardly confused after hearing NRBQ for the first time pulsating from a stage floor of sound,
here's a quickly manicured full set (notice coffin shapes are optional meanwhile please pass me that cigarette) from the Nail circa '73
Parkway drive , all that remains and machine head)
Paradise lost Erased 2002 imba!
Never listened to them because of my rule against rhyming band names. I had it even back then.
I would actually love to listen to Lizard Gizzard and the Blizzard Wizard or whatever the fick their name is but rules are rules.
I did watch the video and that music is actually crazy for 1983, Elfman was a visionary probably, I wouldn’t know.
The GOAT imho.
