President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
A girl of any color is almost certainly safer on a train full of Proud Boys than in almost any neighborhood in DC. (Unless the Proud Boys are just out 'wilding' on the train, which wasn't the case here as they were en route to an important rally.)Nice photo-op for the Proud Boys as they totally left her alone and apparently didn't even try to steal her seat. So, let's take a step back here. This wasn't the proud boys, this was a white nationalist and white supremacist group called patriot front. What makes you think a group of white supremacists, which is a group that is famously known for violence and specifically hate crimes towards POC, would be safer than (almost) any neighborhood in DC? And why is it that you feel compelled to defend this white supremacist group by (apparently) making up whole cloth the claim that a black woman surrounded by masked white supremacists would be safer there than in her own neighborhood?

Bro up here glazing white supremacist groups.

Thanks for the correction. I wrote 'Patriot Front' in earlier posts, but since I'm an idiot I thoughtlessly started to call them Proud Boys.
Both groups are beyond disgusting.
addendum: Likely safer on a train than in their neighborhood.
Oh yeah, the actual Proud Boys are all in ICE

I explained all this in earlier posts.
I mean if what we’re quantifying over for the white supremacists is a 15-30 minute train ride vs an entire lifetime of living in a neighborhood, I suspect geezer is right. But I think it’s obvious why that’s a bad comparison.
Nice that Patriot Front chuckleheads on the train have considerately masked up.
Wouldn't want to get sick on their big day.
As a person with a Jewish background, my childhood education regarding the Holocaust reinforced my identity as a vulnerable minority in a majority Christian country.
The lesson for me is that the French & British victors of WW1 were indifferent to the suffering of the Germans and that indifference came back to bite them. That indifference bred brutality.
Now I see that the winners of neoliberal economic policy are indifferent to the suffering of their fellow citizens. A half century of uninterrupted wealth concentration and global trade policy which has exported blue collar work overseas. Leadership of both parties pursued those international trade agreements.
Indifference breeds brutality and racism is a symptom of people who are frightened and want someone below them in the pecking order.
UBI would hopefully take the edge off of people's fear.
We can sit here and condemn the white Christian nationalists for being awful people. But I think it's wiser to ask ourselves about the causes leading to their rise. We live in a country with too many losers and contempt for them doesn't take away their ability to undermine the social fabric of the nation.
Too much inequality is a disease and neither party has pursued policy which has reversed it for half a century. If the public does not have a political option within the system to fix that, they will start looking for someone to blow up the whole system. Trump offers that potential.
None of this is new. History is a guide. One would hope that we might evolve beyond the need to repeat these lessons which end in a purge via tribal warfare.
Indifference seems to court bad karma so I try to care about everyone and begin with a compassionate baseline.
If people want to give me a hard time, I'm fine with that. Politics is a competitive arena and it involves taking punches.
The Democratic Party clearly doesn't prioritize winning. The electoral college setup means that there a small handful of competitive states that determine the outcome of the presidential election. MI, PA, WI, NV, AZ, GA ....maybe a few others. A party that wanted to win the POTUS election would select the candidates who do best in those states. It's not complicated. It would no
One small flaw in your analysis: The VOTERS choose their party's candidates. Each state has a primary. The voters had the means, motive and opportunity to choose Sanders in both 2016 and 2020 and CHOSE Clinton and Biden instead.

If you think the playing field was level, you're missing a lot.
In 2016, the DNC effectively reported to the Clinton campaign. The DNC kicked the Sanders campaign out of the NGP-Van voter database at some point and had every opportunity to mine all the data that the Sanders campaign had gathered and make lots of his supporters disappear from the voter rolls in places like NY. The Clinton fundraising (Hillary Victory Fu) took advantage of a loophole to take in donations approaching $1m from people like Alice Walton which circumvented the $2,700 per candidate limit.
Despite the fact that Bernie had been arrested as a college student for protesting against discriminatory housing for black students and Hillary had been a volunteer for the Goldwater campaign which opposed the Civil Rights movement, you had a black Congressman like John Lewis come out and question Bernie's credentials as a Civil Rights activist in the 60's. I like to think his pancreatic cancer was his karma for that performative bs designed to sway black voters against Bernie.
In 2020, Obama intervened by nudging out Keith Ellison for DNC Chair and installed toady Tom Perez. Perez hired the group of former Clinton supporters who went by the name of Shadow, Inc. were responsible for the fiasco of vote counting in Iowa so that when the country went to sleep at night, it appeared that Pete Buttigieg had gotten the most votes when in fact Bernie had gotten the most votes.
Let's not forget the Stop Bernie meetings reported on by the NY Times which included Pelosi who scheduled the bogus impeachment hearing during the 3 weeks preceding the Iowa Caucus so that Bernie would not be able to campaign and build momentum.
Bernie got the most votes in the first 3 states of Iowa, NH and Nevada and the race went to S. Carolina where Obama and Clyburn used their leverage with black christians who have racist attitudes toward Jews like Sanders.
Go to Super Tuesday and all the Obama political creations (Warren, Yang and Buttigieg) did exactly what was necessary to kneecap Bernie. Yang and Buttigieg dropped out and endorsed Biden. Despite no strong showings and taking a public position against big money donors, Warren took a $15 million donation from Obama bundler Carla Jurvetson in order to stay in on Super Tuesday and take progressive votes from Bernie.
I've never voted for a Republican and Obama pretty much admitted he was an 80's Republican. So I'm just going to watch things burn until I get some real Democrats to vote for. We're swirling the drain with neoliberal policy .... it's better that the GOP wins and gets the blame for the spiral down so that we eventually create the demand for a leftist.
I'm encouraged by Mandami's success. I would support people like AOC, Raskin, Jeff Merkley and a few others.
that is a lot of words just to be a shitlib
it was definitely a tough pill to swallow when it became apparent that Bernie was just another shitlib.
