NBA 2025-26 Season Thread: THE NY KNICKS ARE CHAMPIONS! BING BONG!
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
Stevens' only defense is that new ownership has forced this to happen.
Regardless, something his happening behind the scenes in the Celtics' organization which is degrading the team's competitiveness.
I mean they sold to leveraged ownership right acts a title and immediately cut costs like crazy. Could just be straight up cheap owners
These new Celtics owners are also talking about building a new arena.
The TD Garden is effectively owned by the Boston Bruins who charge the Celtics rent and also earn income from other non-sports events in the arena.
The new ownership want to change that financial "problem".
WTF in all hell
How did not one team beat the offer of PG13 and some meh picks???????
It’s like the Celtics ownership wanted PG13.
Brad Stevens is no where near this dumb even if he was black out drunk.
I'm so mad at the Celtics that I'm listening to Boston sports radio.
Lol, that's a low point.
My wife is a diehard Celtics fan and she is BIG mad. She has been ranting continuously for the better part of an hour. I legit could have told her that I just lost $750K playing baccarat in Vegas and she would be less mad than she is right now.
hearing reports that the lolkers ****ed it, uh2ci
also, lol chowdahhh
Stephen A talking about how the Lakers can’t win with 3 white guys is incredibly racist and he should be banned from all media.
boston just wanted to add to the history of getting destroyed on acquiring PGIII trades
Can't believe no other teams stepped up and offered more than that for Brown, even with his huge salary. How does Walker Kessler bring back more? If you told me a month ago that would happen I'd guess Brown has to beat a OJ type trial or something.
If anyone deserves any benefit of the doubt, it is Stevens (besides maybe Presti) as he has pushed all the right buttons since becoming GM but it'll be interesting to see how the Celts work their way out of this 1.
The picks could be nice but Tatum is 28 and in his prime, they're almost saying he isn't good enough just as much as they're saying Brown isn't by doing a deal like that.
the only logical conclusion is the new owners are dumbasses, they forced Stevens' hand on the trade, and for some god forsaken reason they wanted PG13 back.
yeah new owners seem like a jerry reinsdorf type.
Its not easy trading a big contract like that in the NBA with not a lot of teams able to absorb it so I get that part of it, but if the sixers wanted to dump George on another team they would've had to include at least half those picks making this even more wtf. Looks like Philly was the last team with an offer left so they just said well we want him out so they took it.
and the cherry on top for boston fans getting mad, they handed him to PHILLY. Like a perfect storm of wtf. PG has what the worst contract in the league.
I really thought the Celtics would just keep brown and just deal with the mess the created for no reason and try to win this year in the east but nope. They'll make the playoffs and have a shot in the east still but not a good day for them.
I think the Lakers thought they were getting a different Walker.
Spoiler

Maybe they feel like that's not an option at this point?I know it's not apples to apples but you don't want to go down the Jimmy with Miami path. Jaylen does feel like a guy willing to go places most guys aren't. Hell hath no fury like certain temperaments scorned and all that.Get your 70% on the dollar compared to where it could end up as a true distressed asset. And Trey M
Well I was right and I was wrong; it seems they feared it was indeed going to be apples-to-apples.
They didn't want to give him the extension and then it's a a there-we-go situation. Still shocked this is the deal but it makes more sense the longer you think about it. Sac and LaVine for better and more picks would've been ideal (and one less year) but they're trying to thread the needle and stay competitive (or Vivek got religion). There's a chance it works out.
One part maybe cheap owners but definitely two parts apron doing what apron was meant to do.
Mannix was also generous and said this was "more like 50 cents on the dollar than 75."
Felt like 30 at first blush.
Not sure how much cheap owners plays a role when they took back George who barely makes less and paid a 40% FT shooter 3/47 today.
Yeah they aren't gonna shell some huge luxury tax bill probably but that is most teams, don't think finances really plays a role in deal.
Only thing I'd say is the night Tatum tore his achilles and they got out running the Jrue/KP team back for the big luxury tax bill, they probably weren't shedding a year.
how could the C's not get Trey Murphy ????? the more I think about this trade it hurts my head
how about LeBron to the Knicks: reunite with Mike Brown
Towns LeBron OG Mikal Brunson
I like Lebron to the Spurs.
The Spurs were 1 Lebron James away from winning the title.
They still have the underdog story.
I do kind of like Lebron going to the Knicks and being like "we going back to back boys".
I am sure Lebron can figure out how to make 50 million in advertisements in NY.
