The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
Roslovic to Leafs for 2 years! Did not see that coming.
Skinner to the Jets
Bobrovsky to the Leafs! 3 year deal is fine and mentor the young goalies. $21 million
7m for lolbob
trouba to the sharks for 8.25m per
vegas keeps andersson for $8.5m x7
some guy called foerster gets 7m x 8 from the flyers
doing nothing ftmfw the play as always on lolcanada day
dallas offered harley, not robertson?
and now we're being picky about the ~6 teams guy want to play for?
supposedly philly pushed hard, and toronto is also in the mix, but guessing it'll be tampa if he's turning down dallas
Harley's extension kicked in today which has a full no trade clause, so Dallas was trying to trade him before midnight last night. Robertson has a defacto no trade because teams aren't going to give Dallas what he's worth unless he agrees to a long term deal. I'm getting the feeling that Robertson really wants to play for Dallas, but at his asking price. Wants to have his cake and eat it too.
Problem is Dallas doesn't have the cap space to pay Harley and Bourque, both of which they'd like to keep. And now Harley's as mentioned full no trade kicked in.
If a team offers Robertson anything 12.5 or under, Stars match that in a heartbeat. If a team offers anything over 12, and Dallas doesn't match, they have to compensate Dallas with 4 (FOUR) 1st round picks. But there aren't many teams with the cap space and the picks.
It's a mess I'm glad I don't have to deal with.
Edit: Looks like they didn't want to keep Bourque that bad and created some more space trading him and Lyubushkin to Nashville for draft picks.
Hey 720ff, who is Blueger and is he o.k.? HAHA
yeah, the fun now is watching gms step on landmines, like:
the winners are the ones who avoid the landmines. bonus points if you can snag some of the few gems out there.
Yeah but I'm not sure even those are out there. Trouba will be a problem down the line as will Andersson, but I think the class is too weak for Bryz, Gomez, or even all the 2016 winger types of disasters.
yeah i was so surprised they were shopping harley that i temporarily forgot about that part, how robertson obv isn't going to cbus. was too lazy to go back and change it lol
he is a player that i would probably describe as "ok". was pretty bad last season for some reason, better before that. could be a useful depth guy if last season was just some weird glitch where he played hurt or something
Report coming out that Leafs have traded for Nick Paul from Tampa for hildeby and 2 draft picks.
Screens is cooking
Nurse to the Sharks
They well and truly don't give a **** about the cap right now
Went to HFBoards to read Leaf Fan takes on the Hildeby for Paul trade.
Some are fully into the boom phase:
this is a team able to match both of Florida and Carolina now with serious pedigree of soldiers who have been in the trenches and won.
Some are grasping at straws:
At least we have gotten older this offseason
(Poster feels the Leafs were too immature last season)
Whoa, Freddie to Edmonton.
Bobrovsky his AAV is almost all signing bonus LOL. Have to see if that is true or not.
In 2030-31, the San Jose Sharks will be paying a combined $30 million to a 35-year old Mason Marchment, 35-year old Kiefer Sherwood, 35-year old Darnell Nurse, and a 36-year old Jacob Trouba,
All of these players have some form of a no-trade clause. Currently, they take up 29% of the cap; although cap projections this far out are unreliable, they will likely take somewhere between 20% and 24% of the Sharks’ cap space
lmao
I had no idea the Sharks were that old. I thought they were a young team that was building through the draft. And Nurse is my least liked player in the league. He not an enforcer but rather a cheap shot artist with the intent to injure.
Was going to root for them this year as one of my pet (underdog) teams, but not anymore.
yeah they were a young team, those guys are all recent additions
they probably did need to add some veterans, but not like that
Connor Bedard left practice today after falling awkwardly on his left shoulder. Note: The way he skated off the ice holding his arm closely resembled the incident in December. You can hear him in severe pain as he leaves the ice.
wompity wompity woo
Holy moly offer sheet szn
I really do enjoy seeing players just saying **** it and maximizing their earnings.
Bonkers lol
Saying that, you will see $25 million aav in the next 2 years, I would think Mcdavid 1st one but not so sure now how these contracts are going already.
