In the NBA, allow teams to subtract the salary of injured players from the salary cap.

Eliminate the first 46 minutes of the game and just play the last 2 minutes. This would speed up the game.

I always wanted the NBA to be one giant 4th quarter. Think of the ratings! MUST SEE TV!

You could get a bit of this effect if you used a tennis style scoring system.

Imagine each 'set' in basketball was a 5 minute period. First team to win 6 'sets' wins the game. Something like that.

Just a single 336 minute quarter marketed as a GAME 7 4th QUARTER!

Old Continental League worked something like that. Each quarter was awarded a point, and the game score leader 3 points, so 7 points total awarded. The team with the most points was credited with the win IIRC.

So the team with the most points wins every time? Novel.

Yeah, what am I missing here, the team with the higher total game score is gonna win at least 4-3 every time.

Pretty sure the idea is that the league standings would be based on points, not just wins/losses. So if you won the match you would always get more league points than the opponent but how many quarters you won would determine whether the points were awarded 7-0, 6-1, 5-2, or 4-3.
