President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

But he wasn't killed. The shooter missed their apparent objective.

You literally said that all the shooters of the President's you listed missed.

Fascinating that you think Reagan was only the apparent objective.

You are a ridiculous person in my humble opinion.

(Granted, this could be a 'it takes one to know one' moment.)

It's easy to sit and criticize Trump's cartoonish leadership. But not a lot of people willing to say how they want the world to be run and why.

As for his supporters, not a lot them explaining why they support him.

Well the thing is that just because people don’t offer an alternative to your worldview/solutions that means your worldview/solutions are true/preferable by default. I could have no idea how the world should be run and could still criticize your idea for how it should be run.

Imagine if a baker makes a cake that is absolutely disgusting because it’s full of salt. Just because I don’t have a cake recipe doesn’t mean I can’t point out their cake sucks.

I was comparing the recent GOP president to a list of five idealists who were killed by assassins. My comment about missing was related to the targets not being killed. Learn to live with a bit of nuance sir.

The man is the quintessential lefty and the second most honest one in here (other than vic) and you want to kick him to the curb for Trump?

He seems to be just as annoyingly narcissistic at the very least. I'm just saying that now I'd have to think about it.

Now there's something novel. Someone who expressed some curiosity about evidence. The evidence of increasing plastic concentrations in the human body is readily available via internet search. The evidence of water shortages such as been developing over recent decades in the Colorado River Basin and resulting in declines in water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead is also readi

I don't believe anyone in this thread is disagreeing that we have serious environmental issues that must be dealt with.

There certainly is pushback on some of your conclusions with respect to ( so-called) Human Evolution.

Most of the pushback is about your Draconian methods to 'save humanity'.

That's true. But if you can't articulate a standard for a good cake then there isn't much possibility for you to receive one that meets your liking. and there isn't much point in bitching about the cake someone else chooses.

And a shitty government is not like a cake. You can choose to not eat a cake. You can't avoid the consequences of a shitty government. If you don't participate in advocating and competing for the government you want, you deserve the government that other people compete for.

This has nothing to do with nuance, you ding-dong! Nobody who knows English well would say that a would-be assassin 'missed' if the bullet hit the intended target but the person wasn't killed.

Why can't you just admit you used the wrong word? I use words wrong all the time, and gratefully accept correction.

Especially if the government has the power to literally tell you what you can and can't do for a living! (Which if I recall correctly is part of your governmental scheme.)

Alright I'm withdrawing my claim that I would vote for nut nut over Trump.

scratch a lib...

Is there any current office holder* in any party that you would vote for if they chose to run for President in 2028?

*federal, state, or county

You already live with a government that tells you what you can't do for a living.

You can't be a hitman or a child sex trafficker or a thief. Do you think that's inappropriate ?

Yes, it is appropriate to prohibit occupations in which at least one of the participants is forced to participate against their will.

Nut Nut is a worse authoritarian than Trump is somehow

Trump: Gas should be $2.25 per gallon, I hope oil companies aren't price gouging, "They're gonna be in big trouble"

REPORTER: You said gas prices were not coming down quick enough. Are you concerned that there is price gouging and taking advantage of the crisis? Can you elaborate on that?
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: So it's ExxonMobil. It's Chevron. It's Shell. It's BP. It's a lot of them.

The gasoline or the oil prices have come down so much, and we are not seeing anything at the pump by comparison to what it should be. We should be, in my opinion, $2.25 right now at the pump, and we're higher than that.

And we are doing a big investigation on it. They're not reducing the prices commensurate with what's happening.

Trump said commensurate?

I’m old enough to remember when Kamala was mocked for talking about corporate price gouging as a possible source of inflation

This was 30 minutes after he was on TV bragging about how much the prices have come down. And oil would have to be at least $35 a gallon to get gas down to $2.25. What an out of touch idiot.

So, if an occupation creates a lot of plastic waste which infects our bodies against our will, it makes sense to ban that occupation, doesn't it ?

If an occupation causes water supply to shrink against the will of the people who need that water to survive, then it makes sense to ban that occupation, right ?

I'd be careful about using the will of the people to justify a ban. Just sayin'.

I certainly wouldn't ban the manufacture or sale of products that contain plastic.

That said, it is certainly wise to have regulations governing the proper disposal of plastic waste.

Here in California, plastic bottles have a $.10 redemption value. Consumers are thus encouraged to recycle rather than toss plastic bottles into the trash can.

I’m sure there was a point to that post

Was it that one of those two dodged military service by any excuse necessary?
