President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

It's kinda crazy to be on a politics forum where community members can't articulate what they want. What's the point ?

People express their opinions about what they want all the time on this forum. Your assertion to the contrary is ludicrous. People are appropriately reluctant to claim that they have solutions to every major problem that affects the world. There are a lot of problems, especially problems outside the United States, that I don't understand nearly well enough to think that I have solutions.

For example, would the world be better off without nation states? That's a very complicated question, but let's assume that I believe the answer is yes (and it could be yes), I have no idea how to eliminate nation states from the world and I suspect that any possible solution would involve hundreds of millions of deaths.

According to you, my failure to articulate a plan for how to eliminate nation states from the world would be a sign of cowardice. But in fact, I just don't know how to do it.

by Rococo

I don't understand nearly well enough to think that I have solutions.

So how do you choose who to vote for if you don't have any comprehension of the appropriate solutions ?

I appreciate the humility associated with you acknowledging your lack of vision regarding relevant problems and solutions. You clearly consider yourself an uneducated voter.

Do you find it offensive and egotistical when others don't share your sense of incomprehension ? Is that what I trigger in you ?

As usual with you, this is getting tiresome. amplify got it exactly correct.

you always do the thing where you purposely twist someone's words into an absolute. I'm not making it up, you did it like seven times today alone.

I didn't say anything remotely close to what you wrote above. I am not allowed to vote outside the United States. I never claimed that I was incapable of evaluating any proposed solution to any problem that was on the table in a U.S. election.

I'm amazed that the people that are the least desirable to to talk to coincidentally always seem to be the ones that also won't shut the hell up.

by jalfrezi

It’s not a complex question fallacy. That would be something like “When are you going to stop being stupid?”.

Both are cases of the Complex Question Fallacy.

by Nut Nut

There isn't anywhere who here presents any contrary evidence to what I assert.

You can call me names, but you can't demonstrate that I'm wring.

I'm happy to engage in scientific debate which involves data that supports what I assert.

I must confess that I don't read your posts very carefully. That said, I don't recall you providing evidence for your assertions either.

Nut nut has shot about 20 loads of nonsense all over this thread. I keep thinking he has to be tapped out and then he fires another one.

by Nut Nut

Is there anyone out there who is willing to go to bat and be the standard bearer for the counter argument that we are not filling the environment with toxic pollutants and exhausting the water supply ?

I don't believe anyone would disagree with either of those claims.

It's your vision of a Draconian World that you are receiving pushback on.

by Nut Nut

I've often wondered that myself.

The people shooting at leftists have dead aim and the ones shooting at Gerald Ford, Reagan and Trump all missed.

Why do bullets have so much better aim when they are targeted at the good guys ?

Reagan was actually shot, Mr. Historian.

by Nut Nut

I'm trying to help people understand the biological utility of a personality like Trump and put his support into context. He's got a lot in common with Hitler.

Ironically, so do you!!

An example of something courageous Rococo might be taking an unpopular stance in your community and sticking to your conviction. Taking shots at my character is incourageous. You're just jumping on the bandwagon because you see other people doing it. Conformity is not courageous. Go ahead ... show some friggin' balls. Tell us how you would run the world if it were up to you. Ta

There is literally nothing courageous about posting with an anonymous account on an antiquated politics forum in a dying poker website.

Your takes are getting worse and worse. You draw conclusions from what others have said that make literally zero sense whatsoever.

It's amazing that so many people take the time to respond to what I have to say if I'm so undesirable to talk to.

I'm quite sure at this point that people that can tie their own shoes would seem amazing to you.

Alright I'm withdrawing my claim that I would vote for nut nut over Trump.

jfc dude

The man is the quintessential lefty and the second most honest one in here (other than vic) and you want to kick him to the curb for Trump?

THIS!!!

Nutnut is courageous enough to anonymously share Truth in this antiquated forum for the good of humanity! His self-sacrifice is both commendable and a fine example for young people everywhere!

I don't have any voice in who lives and who dies. The version of the Earth determines who lives and who dies. The version we are creating is going to reduce the global carrying capacity for humans by billions. We aren't built to live without water. We aren't built to live with plastic infiltrating our bodies. We aren't built to live without sufficient food. All of those things

Are your global Community Captain's going to be armed or are they just going to yell at me if I do something you don't like? That's going to do that with Russia and Israel and the ME?

by Nut Nut

But it's an attempt to explain the legitimate appeal which Trump holds for his supporters.

He pours fire on people's fears and incites them to anger.

This is what MAGA does to people.
It's gives them the confidence to spread their cruelty without any forethought.
These imbeciles are so stupid, they continue to act like this even when cameras are pointing at them.

Do we really need the Statue of Liberty anymore? Maybe we could put a data center there.

The Supreme Court voted 6-3 on Thursday to allow the Trump administration to end legal protections for migrants fleeing violence and natural disaster in Haiti and Syria, exposing hundreds of thousands more people to potential deportation. The Department of Homeland Security can now end temporary protected status, a program that protects a total of 1.3 million people from 17 countries.
The Supreme Court also voted 6-3 to clear the way for the Trump administration to potentially revive an immigration policy once used to turn back migrants seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border. The court overturned a lower court order blocking the practice that limited the number of people who could apply for asylum each day.

Reagan was actually shot, Mr. Historian.

But he wasn't killed. The shooter missed their apparent objective.

Are you trolling or just dumb as chit?

I must confess that I don't read your posts very carefully. That said, I don't recall you providing evidence for your assertions either.

Now there's something novel. Someone who expressed some curiosity about evidence.

The evidence of increasing plastic concentrations in the human body is readily available via internet search.

The evidence of water shortages such as been developing over recent decades in the Colorado River Basin and resulting in declines in water levels at Lake Powell and Lake Mead is also readily available on the internet.

The evidence about the dangers of climate change and outcomes such as the possibility of a relatively near-term shutdown (within a century) of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation is more detailed and would best be covered in the climate change thread if you want to go over there and have that discussion.

I'm happy to take all the time people want if they are genuinely curious. It's obviously a very important aspect of my argument and incumbent on me to provide the analytical basis for my assertions.

The purpose of community leaders is to make sure that the interests of community members are well represented and to provide a point of integration into larger regional communities.

We will always need something of a police force to maintain law and order just as we do today. If the thing you are doing that they "don't like" is criminal such as child abuse or physical assault which qualifies as a crime today, then you can count on it remaining a crime in the future.

Today we live in communities with mayors and a police force. That wouldn't go away.

The reasons to commit crimes would diminish with the complete change in resource allocation. There would be almost no motive to steal or commit financial crimes.

I don't understand your comments related to foreign countries.

That's the essence of Trump's appeal to his tribal supporters.

Putting white folks ahead of brown folks in the survival pecking order. For his supporters, racism is a feature, not a bug.

Thanks. I would think it would be better to approach these issues with the acceptance there is going to have to be some very tough decisions being made - similar to the ideas that you posited in the Old and the Weak thread.

I don't think it is useful to hand wave it away with a statement like ... "the environment will decide who dies" or "we have no choice but to accept" It may be useful for argument sake but it serves little purpose in solving anything or as a zero percent chance of actually happening in actuality.

There is going to have to be some serious decisions that need made in order to accomplish your environmental goals. Many that lead to an extraordinary death count. And as the new leader of the world, you're going to have to decide and make these decisions. It's what I am trying to steer you towards, not as some gotcha if I were to disagree but for the fact that all the other arguments don't go anywhere.
