There was much speculation that he had fully converted after being brought up Anglican, but chose to keep it to himself, probably for political reasons. As we know to our cost, he's more than capable of holding two different opinions or beliefs at the same time. "my… um… parent’s family are Jewish and we’ve got extended family in Israel that we feel this [our jewishness] every
Can't speak for England of course, but in the U.S. it is not uncommon for an unbeliever to attend church/synagogue with their believing spouse.
My understanding is that because of the focus on maternal lineage, Jews dont really care if a non Jewish man who marries a Jewish woman converts or not.
He can of course convert if he wants to, but there is no stigma to him or his Jewish family if he doesn't.
This is in direct contrast to Islam. According to Islamic law Muslim women are not allowed to marry outside the religion. So there is tremendous stigma if the man doesn't convert to Islam prior to marriage.
For (Orthodox) Jews, there is actually stigma/pressure if a Jewish man marries a gentile woman, for her to formally convert first. So their children are born to a Jewish mother. Which is what happened with Ivanka Trump when she married Kushner.
As far as this conversation goes, I am guessing Starmer is being truthful he is an atheist and he never personally converted. And no one in his family or the Jewish community really cares one way or another.

lol
In fairness, the women's family/community don't kill her if she doesn't adhere to community norms. Which is common in Islam.
It always amuses me you are so highly critical of Jewish cultural practices, and agnostic towards Muslims having much worse versions of the same practices.
Almost as if you have an ulterior motive.
--In other news, Nature literally just published a paper explaining how Muslims, in this case Pakistanis, are good populations to study loss of function mutations, because they are so inbred, due explicitly to their highly coercive cultural practices demanding women marry their own cousins.
--in Britain my understanding is they are passing laws legalizing first cousin inbreeding among Muslims; a practice that has been shunned in the West, and most populations through history, because of the clear dysgenic downsides. Not to mention, at the cultural level this behavior promotes ethnoreligious tribalism and divisiveness.
I was laughing bc people actually think that if the mother converts then that somehow changes the genetics of the kid to make him Jewish.
I’m sad I didn’t go to Israel but I realized I couldn’t be around these people for three weeks.

First-cousin marriage has always been legal (though frowned on) in the UK.
It's always been legal in the uk hasn't it?
If it's disapproved of that's just for us plebs.
Darwin married his first cousin Emma and Queen Victoria married her first cousin Albert. There are sometimes moves to outlaw it, and a study of Muslims in Bradford showed that children of such marriages are unusually likely to show certain failures of development. The Islamist push is not to legalise it but to prevent it being banned.
I have no doubt that when Israel conducts its bombings in Gaza they are targeting terrorists. I also have no doubt they aren’t overly concerned with taking out innocent bystanders because they don’t think there are any innocent bystanders.
--Kinda wild how the ME was actually on a productive path towards modernization; but basically because the Arabs kept losing wars to Israel they collectively melted down and decided instead to hard pivot to 7th century morality and barbarism.
--And here we are.
--And because of ethnic cleansing and replacement migration, and the permissiveness of Europe's ruling class in facilitating this, this is basically going to be the future of the West too, after decades of inevitable Lebanon style sectarian conflict and civil wars.

A lot of people don’t know Saddam was born a conjoined twin.

That is precisely why Netanyahu is the subject of an international arrest warrant issued at The Hague and can never travel to any country where it might be enforced, such as, for instance, the United Kingdom.

He can travel anywhere he wants. No chance anybody is getting close enough to take him in.
Also, the UK is trash and an enemy of Israel. No way he would go there anyway.
--Some interesting politics around this, which reflect changing geopolitical alliances. Turkey has traditionally been the main nation lobbying around the world pressuring other nations not to recognize the Armenian genocide. And prior to Erdogan/Netanyahu Israel generally acceded to this, as Turkey and Israel were large trade partners.
Anyways, after Erdogan seized power and basically ended democracy in favor of an Islamist totalitarian state (with fake elections), he has increasingly ratcheted up the rhetoric and aggressiveness against Israel. To the point they do little trade now and have very frosty relations.
While all this has been going on, mainly because of their failures in Ukraine, Russia has been severely weakened and has lost their ability to project power pretty much everywhere. Up until very recently Armenia (who is landlocked and has to trade through neighboring countries) was a Russian client state. But Russia basically cant support them anymore, so the Trump administration has attempted to fill the void, and is working to repair relations between Aizerbaijan and Armenia (who have traditionally been enemies), so Aizerbaijan/US become Armenia's main benefactors and trade partners.
And Aizerbaijan and Israel are fairly friendly (as these things go). So basically under Trump's guidance Armenia is making their peace with Aizerbaijan and Israel, and as a show of good faith (and rebuke of Turkey) Israel is recognizing the Genocide. If things continue along this path, it would not surprise me if Azerbaijan itself makes some sort of recognition of the Genocide. Although Aizerbaijan has always aligned with Turkey in this respect (denying it), and we aren't there yet.

Thank you for posting this. This was an actual genocide. I never even knew about it probably because the Jews were not involved.
First off, I believe the Holocaust/Naziism has been way over-determined as a singular event in world history. And people who talk about it now, especially you, mostly do so in bad faith. I think Palestinians should just leave and move on with their lives because they lost every war to retake Israel, the whole Gaza/West Bank ghetto isn't working, the 2 state solution is DOA; a
I 100% think the Palestinians should leave. It would be good for them and good for Israel. The settler movement in the West Bank is just getting stronger. They will continue to make the Palestinians life miserable. Gaza is nothing more than a launch pad for attacks on Israel. The Gazans are being used by the Arab countries. The problem is nobody wants these people because they are trouble makers. They send their children to school to learn how to hate and kill.
