Poker room Feng Shui: Maximum distance between tables

Assume you have a poker room that can be as big as you want, big enough to hold 1,000 tables comfortably if you wanted, but you can only have a maximum of 20 tables. If you were design the room, how far apart are you putting the tables?

Imagine a local hardcore band playing to a basement of 40 people versus that same band playing to a stadium of 40 people.

A room that can hold 1,000 tables is going to look empty at most layouts of 20 tables. You have to concentrate them for the energy and the real or perceived liveliness reasons alone. I'm thinking of the most recent Foxwoods room before they moved to the new one — the room was too big for the number of active tables on most nights. It sometimes felt more dead than it was.

Then there are the logistical concerns: You don't want your floorpeople, chip runners, cocktail servers walking miles of empty space each shift.

So, as close as possible while allowing a few lanes of movement between them. I would even use the desks and other furniture to create a more closed space. A too-large room can feel like a dead one.
