Any tips on how to toast bread too large for my toaster?

I'm trying to make toast with sourdough bread. The bread is too wide to fit into the toaster. I can turn it sideways but only 75% of it is within the toaster. There are probably ways to make toast without using a toaster but then that defeats the purpose of owning a toaster. Any tips on how I can get the bread evenly toasted (I usually choose heating level 5 for bread that fits in the toaster).

i cut my bread in half like a gentleman before toasting. but that's a length problem not a width. i don't see any other possible answer other than modifying your bread to fit into the toaster. YMMV.

put a plate on top of it and squish it down, then put in toaster?

cut it thinner? get an electric carving knife to cut thinner if too cumbersome to do with a normal knife.

get a slicer to slice thinner.

get a thicker toaster.

Pretty sure he means wide as in across, not as in slice thickness. And yes, cut each slice in half is the only answer I have to that problem.

Thickness of the bread is fine, just the length is too much.

I can't imagine trying to work in a kitchen that didnt have a toaster oven. Ours gets used more than the actual oven

Do you own one of those sharp things that could cut it in half?

Toast a few minutes, flip, toast the other end.
With a little trial and error, ends and center can get close to the same doneness.

Toaster oven! Toaster ovens are the nut appliance for making toast. Any size bread will fit plus you get to butter it pre toasting so the butter seeps deep in while toasting. I will never use a regular toaster again.
