**** TJ's 2026 WSOP Trip! ...And Continued Sundry Poker Adventures ****
Hello again, friends!
I’ll start this thread by channeling my inner karaoke DJ, and invoking the timeless lyrics from the
PLO went well today, +1440.
One interesting hand.
I open AhQTh5, three calls. Flop the ace high flush on Kh-Jh-3h, I bet pot when checked to, one call. Turn is le royale with cheese, the Qh. He checks, I check back.
River is another King, he leads out pot. I shove, he snaps, and windmills quads. “You lose,” I say, and show him the bad news.
…no jackpot, though.
…it was still pretty cool. I highly recommend making a royal when your opponent has quads.
Skill game, obviously.
Flight D of the Colossus in the morning!
GL, hope to see you at the final table!
First break, on 57k from the 50k starting stack.
I got below a starting stack early, by two-barreling 99 in a 3bet pot on a T-high flop, and he had AT.
Then I made a 1-liner straight, but lost to the super nut straight.
I got it back by doing something not fundamentally sound: setmining in a 4bet pot. I squeeze with 99, the EP opener 4bet his QQ, but it came 9-high and I doubled through.
Other than that, not getting very involved.
Table seems tight/passive. We’ll see what the late regs do.
Busted the last hand of level 5.
I check/shoved with top/top, got called by top pair with a flush draw, which came on the river.
Last reentry for the Colossus in play, let’s make it count!
Second break, still around the starting stack on my next bullet, with 44k.
This new table seems looser. Let’s hope I can find some exploitable spots to start amassing a stack.
GL!

Pretty annoyed with today. Folded for a couple hours, then busted it on a standard tourney beat, QQ < AJo, all in pre.
Kinda regret firing that last bullet into the Colossus. Was feeling unfocused, like I was on autopilot, and not actively engaged, and locked in.
Normally, when I feel that way, it’s a good indication to stop playing poker for the day. But… It’s Saturday night at the World Series. Can’t let it just pass by.
Sitting in what looks like a good PLO game. Won’t make it a long one, tonight.

Hate to say it, but Vegas got the better of me today.
Despite recognizing that I was feeling unfocused, I played in a long and bad cash session.
I have the $800 Deepstack event on my schedule tomorrow, but I may just take the day off.
This is the point I’m reminded of my trip last year, where I started feeling like I was pressing, which made everything worse.

Yeah, I have the $800 deepstack on my pre-planned schedule, but like you I am thinking of skipping it. And by "thinking" of skipping it I mean I am almost certain I'm going to skip it.
A day off could do you good - we’ve all been there in a tourney when you realize you dont want to be playing and almost cant wait to lose.
In another news How Bout them effing Dawgs - looking great so far.
100% if you’re feeling this way, take a day off. Go enjoy some sunshine and relaxation!

Take the day. You're on a long trip. It'll help you more than hurt you.
I felt like I had to keep pressing most of my trip. You saw how it ended.
It's June in Vegas: there's always another tournament the next day.
I say go and play some super easy low stakes cash and have a few beers. Get some mojo back against face players

I agree with everyone on taking the day off. Sunday is a day of rest [emoji6].
Not sure if it is your cup of tea, and it is kind of feminine, but I love to get a manicure and pedicure in LV. It is very relaxing and makes me feel great and reset after. Not sure if you do MyVegas but there is a decent offer for the Mandalay Bay nail service in there.
Also, I like to go to the chiropractor for a basic adjustment as it also makes me feel refreshed. Same thing w a nice haircut/shave.
Enjoy a day off! Thanks for all your updates

Slept in, and woke up just 15 minutes before my tournament would have started. I guess that fully crosses it off for the day, which I’m fine with.
Had a shower, and a shave, and felt like a new man.
Then I walked to one of my all time favorite Las Vegas restaurants, and in my opinion, the best Italian food in the city: Esther’s Kitchen.
So I was all excited to get some hand made pasta… but when you go on a Sunday morning, it’s the brunch menu.
I had the proper breakfast:

The toast is their famous homemade sourdough. The potatoes were seasoned really well. And the kale had some kind of spiciness added to it, it was all really good. Guess I’ll have to come back another time for some pasta.
Plus a glass of Cabernet, it was $45.
Now I’m on my way to Aria, to play cash games. But only if I’m feeling fresh, and focused.
It’s okay to pick up when that ceases being the case.
A nice change of scenery. Those MGM chips looks pretty nice. GL!!!

Busted the tourney shortly before the first break, lost a flip.
I never got above a starting stack, so this one was doomed from the start.
Got a great breakfast in a cafe in MGM. Didn’t think to snap a picture, it was all my usual breakfast staples, for $32.
Taking the rest of the evening off from playing.
South Point $300 multi flight tomorrow!
rest refresh recharge
training for marathons, not sprint events
Good luck!

Busted my first bullet, in a bad spot.
I squeezed from SB with AQs, then UTG 4bet. That’s a standard fold, but I didn’t. Flop came Q-high, I check shoved, and ran into KK.
Very bad by me. Parking lot hand, indeed.
This is a unique structure, that offers quite a bit of play in the early going. So I feel good about firing another bullet.
"Rub some dirt on it and get back in there!"
😀 😉 😀
