1/2: Facing a tough river decision with flopped TP

1/2: Facing a tough river decision with flopped TP

Interesting dynamic from literally one hand earlier:

I opened UTG to $10 w/ AJo, V called, BB called.

Flop: 764hh (I had Jh)
I cbet $15, only V calls.

Turn: Kd
I barrel $75 and V tanks ~10 sec before reluctantly folding.

Next hand:

1/2 NL, $7 UTG straddle

Hero $20 UTG1 w/ KThh, next 3 call, UTG calls

Flop ($100): K76r
Hero $35
V in MP call, BTN call

Turn ($205): 6x
Hero $65
V calls, BTN fold

River ($330): Ax
Hero checks
V quickly bets $200 leaving ~$150 behind

Thought process:

- V should have very little Ax here after flop/turn action
- Naked 6x seems unlikely to peel flop multiway next to act
- Any Kx now chops and checks behind

Is live 1/2 population still underbluffing too much here, or is this a mandatory bluff-catch because I only really lose to 77/76s (1 combo) and a slowplayed AK type hand.

Don't like the open with KTs in EP in a straddled pot. It's pretty, but it's a fold, imo.

AP, if you can get away with tiny bets like that in your pool, this seems like the place for them.

I think the assumption that "any Kx now chops and checks behind" is not a safe one. Also, why can't V have 6x? I know you think it's unlikely to peel, but you only bet 1/3 pot. Finally, Ace-high boards are massively underbluffed, especially as so few 1/2 regs can fold a pair of aces, even horrible ones on bad boards.

I'm not bluff catching here without much better reads on V and V's likely reads on me.

I don't like the turn bet at all. You're out of position to two opponents with a bad top pair. The bottom card paired and 6X is in your opponent's ranges (even though it shouldn't be). You should check here.

River is a fold. The only bluffs he can have are 98s and 54s. That's only 8 combos to start with and I would not expect most opponents to play those hands in this manner.

Also I think betting AxJh multi-way on 764hh is spew.

Label: wide opener
Early position - AJo and KTs

Exploit - 3bet often, isolate, defend wide in position, positional pressure, attack capped ranges.

It’s just very hard to be profitable with these hands in this situation. Your turn barrel netted you 25 in the first example and cost you 120 (and possibly more) in the second one.

It’s much easier (and more profitable) to play strong hands, in position, with the initiative. You have no advantage OOP and will often end up guessing with your stack.
