1st post TL;DR
Hello Boys and Girls,
Much like other people on here, I have thoroughly enjoyed most of the TR's posted and thought I would give it a shot. Just giving everyone fair warning that there is a greater than zero chance that this TR will start out with piss and vinegar and then you won't here from me again until I get back. Vegas has a way of doing that somehow.
I (Jeff) am going with my GF (Paige) whom I have been with for almost 8 years. She has 2 boys that are 12 and 9 years old and my son just turned 14. We are in our mid 40's (wink, wink) and the boys are with the ex's this week, so Vegas here we come. Luckily we both agree that dating someone is way more fun than being married to someone. 😆
Our flight leaves at 10:20pm tonight and we are staying at the Flamingo. I am a CET whore and can stay anywhere (exept Nobu) for free, but Paige is directionally challenged when it comes to hotels. Flamingo is the only one she can find the elevators and the correct floor. Finding the hotel room after that can still be an adventure for her though. Plus it is the 1st place I stayed my first trip to Vegas back in 1989, so sentimental value there. Also doesn't hurt to be on a 1st name basis with the bartenders at Bugsy's bar. Can't wait to see Steve, Steve and Vi again.
As far as the trip itself, I have rented a car on Monday so we can go check out Hoover Dam. Been on my list of things to do damn near every trip to Vegas, and by God, it gets marked off this time. Also booked a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon on Wednesday. A little pricey, but neither of us have ever ridden in a helicopter before, so what the hell.
The rest of the trip will consist of VP, more VP, Pai Gow, Craps and 3 Card Poker. Most people will be shocked at how little we eat, but since I have a Buffet of Buffet pass, we will try to hit up at least 2, plus maybe 1 other semi-fine dining experience.
Plan for the TR thread is to post random pics instagram style from my phone. Then more detailed updates from my laptop as I refuse to type more than a sentence on my phone.
A few Pics to get started of us when we first started dating. Don't be shocked by how much we have aged, if and when I post more pics.
VEGAS BABY!!!

Was reading some old trip reports and saw this gem.
Wonder if Cowboy Cold and Paige ever tied the knot?
Short answer is no and I should probably leave it at that, but I'll elaborate a bit since you asked.
Paige and I both had somewhat messy divorces from our 1st marriages. We discussed getting married a few times but agreed we would be better off waiting until our kids were grown and out of high school. So we each maintained our own households.
However we took many family vacations together. She had 2 boys the oldest of which was the same age as my son. Great times taking the boys skiing in Colorado, the beaches in Florida, canoeing and camping trips etc...
Unfortunately life happens and sometimes it's horrible. Going to put the rest in a spoiler. I'm certainly not looking for any sympathy. **** happens and I'm at peace with it.
Spoiler
In 2018, Paige was involved in a bad car accident where her car over turned and caught fire. She was trapped inside and suffered 3rd degree burns over all of her upper torso. She spent 8 weeks in ICU and then another 4 months in the burn unit rehabbing at Parkland hospital in Dallas.
I spent those 4 months with her helping her rehab sleeping in the room with her. I could go into more detail but let's just say it's something you definitely don't want to experience. When she was finally released, she moved to Colorado to live where her brother and SIL, both of which are emergency room nurses could help take care of her. I visited often and we took many trips to Blackhawk to get our gamble on.
Sadly that sort of trauma puts an extreme strain on your heart and other vital organs. In October of 2023, that caught up to her and she passed away. We were together for 19 years. Best years of my life and for that I'm very grateful. I still talk to her every day.
Sorry to bring the room down, but you asked, so I figured I'd give you the why.
I'm sorry for your loss, but happy for the time you had together.
Thats horrible, I’m terribly sorry for your loss.
This was a fantastic thread to read through! I hope it can still make you smile.
Please accept my sincere condolences. Very sorry to hear that news.
Damn. That’s rough.
You sound like a good dude, Cowboy.
Wishing you all the best going forward.
Cowboy, incredibly sad, but I am glad that you shared as long as you are fine doing so.
olá El Jefe Vaquero Frio
if you should ever somehow feel more comfortable sharing other cathertic Paige memories with the rest of us
my guess is a surprisingly large audience will form two by two to bear the pall of your loss with hopes of reading about everlasting words of love devotion and serenity that very few human couples in life will ever experience together
yet the two of you seeming achieved it on your own terms
wishing you eternal peace my brother
and as always here if you need to phone a friend
you have my number
This is so sad, and of course not the response I expected. I am so sorry for your loss..
Very sorry for your loss. Hope you can find comfort in the great memories you shared together. It says a lot about the strength of your character the amount of support, care and love you provided during such a terrible time in her life.
oof, sorry Cowboy - I had no idea
