I don’t like your chances
Two opponents - is top pair enough?

But you have to call 80 to win 500
You’re almost forced to call needing to win only 1 time out of 6 (16% equity)

Small river bets kinda force you to defend.

I think I fold flop. On the flop, I am somewhat likely to be good on one board and probably way behind on the other. If I get outdrawn on the K high board it’s bad news.

I can probably find a tight fold on the flop. Turn and river once the ace comes on the other board I think I am calling down for the sizing.

Did someone have 98cc, 76dd, or 75dd? Those are the hands that jump out at me that were strong on both flops and have us beat on both boards.

My general understanding of double board theory is that we should be looking for spots where we have a strong hand on one board and a lot of equity on the other, if not a strong hand on both boards. At a minimum we want to have one board fairly crushed.

If V is an old man (typically the nitty type), with sizing tells, and he pots it, first to act, into 6 opponents, I'd think his range is super strong.

Given how bad most low stakes recs are at double board games, it wouldn't shock me if someone had JTcc. Hard to find the combination of holdings for both opponents that would have us scooping here, when we have the Ac and Kd in our hand. Maybe someone shows up with something insane, like 64cc.

Fold flop - end of thread.

Nitty old man bets gigantic, you only have tptk going on for 1 board. 0 equity for the other.
You want at least nuts on 1 board, and also something for the other in such cases.

Never ever play 1 weak board, 1 0 equity board.
At least have good equity on both boards. Or super nutted(overfull, st8flush, quads) on 1 board then the other doesn't matter. Or strong on 1 board but ok on the other.

Thanks guys.

I jammed $960 on river as a semibluff to get both off.

SB tank calls with TT for set/set.

CO tank calls with 54dd.

You forgot TT.

By the time we get to the river, we have pot odds to call for a chop. But when I’m on my A game I never see this river.

Yikes.

FWIW, I basically never bluff in bomb pots, especially on the river -- people are just too sticky.

Wow.

So...they're both terrible. But our job is to not also be terrible, and you didn't do your job.

If it helps - something I try to do a lot is look at the board and ask, "what cards would I really love having here?" On these two boards, the ones that immediately jump out are 98cc, 76dd, and 75dd. Basically 1P/2P + combo draw type hands. Even having a set on just one of these two boards, I wouldn't love the situation.

lol, TT underplayed his hand and you overplayed yours. The weakish bets made you assume TPTK on both boards was good for at least a chop. This is why DBBPs destroy fish so quickly.

Most people say to never bluff DBBP so that's exactly why I do and get away with it. But you have to have a reason to bluff.

My last session...2/5, $25 ante, 7 handed, pot $159 after rake

OMC bets $80
K92 with two clubs
Q86r

2 ppl call and I have AQ, no clubs, I reluctantly call in last position with no good draws and about the weakest hand I can imagine that would get me to call. Pot = 479

Turn OMC bets $100
K927 still 2 clubs
Q863 w/2 hearts which can't help me.

Everyone calls but I would have insta folded to any aggression from the other 2 Villains because TPTK on one board is not good enough. Pot $879

River
K9276 w/3 clubs
Q8634 w/2 hearts

Everyone checks to me. At every street, the OMC has been staring at the top board only. He's seat 2 and I'm S7 so I've had a great look at him. The straight or flush has scared OMC and V2 and V3 were happy to check the river.

I bet $250. Everyone folds.

I had a read on the aggressor and position on everyone. Time to bluff.

Maybe it’s a leak to continue with just TPTK on one board and nothing on the other in these spots? I feel like I get to see a lot of turns in position and if it checks around, probably even bluff someone off a chop (like I tried doing here) considering my TPTK will often be good enough on that board when it checks to me. Idk.

DBBP’s are just a different animal. I’m insta folding the flop and it’s not even close to a reviewable hand afterwards.

I am not an expert in double board but I think it is. This is a split pot game where you make your money trying to scoop both boards. If your goal is to risk all of your money for half of someone else’s you have big RIO problems. And if you are beat on the board you’re trying to win for a chop, forget it.
