Like I said, the Magic needed 50+ from Paolo without Wagner. An efficient 45 wasn't enough.

Sounds to me like they're just shifting which teams tank. The very bottom won't tank, but teams 10 to 20 have incentive to tank to get into 4 to 10. Why would you want to be a 7 through 10 seed in the playoffs?
well the owners print money on playoff games, the players only get a small salary for the postseason -- its absolutely nothing like pro-rata to their regular season salary.

One thing I will say is the entire game theory of the NBA has become incredibly solved and stale, we're at a nash equilibrium with almost all aspects of team building.
Atleast this will cause chaos and reshuffle the deck. Changes the calculus on rebuilding, trading stars, how to value picks, etc
