I had a nice first day of my workweek at the casino. I lost some at poker, but I won my first high hand for the year for $300, and that left me +$205 after 4 hours.
I was also down at the slots until I hit quad aces with an 8x multiplier on Double Bonus vp for 6400 nickels, and that helped me finish +$243 after 4.5 hours.
Another good day at work: I won $193 at poker over 4 hours, and I completed 75 hours for the month of April. For that, the poker room should be paying me $200 in rakeback at some point in the next few days.
There is one machine on the slot floor that hasn't yet caught the interest of other advantage players. After weeks of fruitless checking, I finally found a play on it, and it paid off nicely. +$301 over 3 hours.
I've done some good grinding over the past few weeks. I'm taking off tomorrow and Saturday, and I'll be back on Sunday. On Saturday I'll be visiting my friends Will and Octavia down in Norwich. I might poke my head into Mohegan Sun for a few minutes if I'm feeling frisky.

It's been a while since I've talked about it, so I'll run through it: the goal is to make a legal living in this modern world in as free of a way as possible, preferably one that doesn't involve foraging through dumpsters or wastelands: no bosses, no customers, no investors, no partners, no algorithms, no handouts.
Earlier this week I was cleaning my shower as part of my four chore list project. Mine is a combination shower and tub, and thanks to all the stretching I've done I was able to clean most of the tub floor without having to get down on my hands and knees.
I was feeling pretty self-complacent about that until one of my Achilles tendons gave me a nasty twinge. It's fine, now, but that was a gentle reminder that I'm still middle-aged, and there's no getting around it.
Two nights ago I ran across an obscure website which showed me that I have been skipping over a lucrative game at MGM for more than 3 years. The game can be checked by engaging in some minor prestidigitation.
I and nearly everyone else at MGM did not know this. The only other advantage player I'd seen near the machine was Sweatercunny, and because I'd seen him making -EV plays on other games, I'd assumed he'd been degenning on this game as well.
I haven't seen Sweatercunny in months, so I have the machine to myself until someone catches me checking it; alas, we're always catching each other checking things; it's a small gaming floor.
Yesterday I woke up early and stopped at MGM on my way to visit Will and Octavia down in Norwich. I checked the "new" game, found a play on it and took it for a $150 profit.
Arriving in Norwich, I drove right past my friends' house and pulled into the Mohegan Sun, where I found the game above on their slot floor. I took the Mohegan game for a $100 profit, then I turned back for Will and Octavia's place.
The three of us went out for a nice hike. The weather threatened rain the entire time, but did not make good on its threat. Unfortunately Octavia found a couple of ticks (my old nemesis!) on herself, giving us all the heebie-jeebies.

After that I drove home, stopping back at MGM for one more quick slot sweep. This time I did not find a play on my new favorite machine.

Regarding From Dusk Till Dawn, I look at the film as the second half of a heist movie followed by the first half of a vampire movie. The dance scene in the middle acts as the transition between the two, where one can see the action, tone and style change from one genre to the other as the song progresses.
The foot thing was just for QT; pure self-indulgence.
The Springfield minor league hockey team is in the midst of their playoffs vs a nearby team from Rhode Island, and they play at the MassMutual center, an easy walking distance from the MGM.
The MassMutual venue charges for parking, and MGM does not. I decided to work the night shift yesterday, forgetting there was a game on, and I was stuck in parking garage madness for 45 minutes. The series is currently tied at 1-1, and never have I rooted so hard for a local team to lose in the playoffs. I'll be following the home dates closely from now on, and Google will peg me as a fan, I'm sure.
I continued my winning streak to end this short week with +$299 at poker over 3.5 hours and +$24 at the slots over 4.5 hours. Next week will also be foreshortened due to Mother's day obligations. I suppose that I could make that up by going in tomorrow and starting the workweek early, but I don't want to.

I'll admit to harboring a lot of ambivalence about AI. I recognize that I'm getting into my elder years, and the tendency in this state is to want to shake ones fist at newfangled things, but my thoughts, goals, actions and politics have never been conventionally mature—and that's not about to change—so it's probably not that.
I often wonder about the reasons why we haven't found much evidence of intelligent life on other planets (contact anecdotes and fleeting Air Force encounters on our own planet notwithstanding), and I think that one of the possibilties is that most or all of the advanced civilizations were destroyed by their own AI before they could figure out interstellar travel and safely spread out enough to mitigate the effects of induced pandemics or a nuclear holocaust, or other Terminator or Matrix-like endings.
It certainly seems that the current AI has sociopathic or even psychopathic traits, with chatbots acting as a

Looks good! I'm a PlayStation guy, and I want to get a PS5, but recently they were more expensive than when they came out, thanks to the tariffs. They've come down to close to original price since then, but I'll wait a bit longer and see if they come down more.
