Terminal cancer would've gotten me to 3 for sure
insanity is up!
I very nearly did but thought that would lead to a 2. Terminal cancer is still included in the clue tho!
messy food - clean food
Love the image. That's pretty middling. Not even sure which side I'd lean, so 11 is first stab
Slight lean to messy with gun to the head
I could go like 9 I think
this is clean, without the crackers i could go through this entire plate without a crumb drop
i don't wanna be overly pushy but i feel i need to campaign harder after the last round haha
it is a finger food, but i don't see this as messy at all. like just celery sticks is probably a 19-20
this has stuff with crumbs, some kind of sauce that looks to be quite sticky, not on the drippy sloppy side
first thought was like 16, i could be talked down a little but this seems like middling of the clean road. some stuff could go wrong but really shouldn't
if this was car food and you told everyone "no eating if you're gonna drop anything, only 0 evidence food allowed" your pals could finish this without a trace and minimal effort
The dip is what makes it messy imo
let's figure out the spectrum endpoints and middle.
messiest? sloppy joes? chicken wings...maybe stuff where there's lots uneaten/leftover and saucy/messy.
veggies and dip, there's not really anything left over. can eat everything. that's a pro to the clean side.
cleanest? glass of water. baby carrot?
in the middle maybe something like an apple or corn on the cob. corn slightly messier since you'll lose some ears. but both relatively clean, but you're left with the core/cob.
the veggies here are clean. maybe some cracker crumbs. but the dip has potential for mess. like you're putting your hand under it or getting a napkin under it after dipping. of course if something goes awry, like a dog knocking over the tray, it's a pretty big mess.
so there's definitely mess potential. car food you hit the brakes and the dip goes everywhere.
This seems like a pretty firm sticky dip that would remain intact during a car brake
But I think the dip is just to bring it down a little and not have us going too high
Agree something like sloppy joes or sauced up wings where you have to napkin your hands after each bite is the messiest
It's got the super clean stuff like carrots and celery, more than 1 so we're obviously bringing it down, then we have some other relatively clean things that bring it down another point or 2, crackers potential for more chaos so I'd be somewhere like 15-16 I think with no dip, maybe even 17. Everything is bite sized and you could eat this entire thing with your hands, and have no one know you ate it because your hands remained clean at the end
But then there's the dip, so subtract another point or 2, I think 14 is the lowest I wanna go, maaaaaybe 13 but 15 is my lean

Agree no dip it's wayyyyy cleaner. The dip is what tips the scales bigly.
Dry rub wings, not messy at all, aside from remaining bones.
Sauced up wings super messy.
This platter probably has napkins beside it. If there's napkins for a food item, it's on the messy side.
It looks like one of the least messy dips possible, and I really don't think it's meant for us to go messy
Like without it we both agree this is super clean, so I don't think insanity is like I'll give em a 16 and then have them subtract 8 for a dip. I think it's like there for us to subtract a few points but not go too crazy
To me this is definitely on the clean side, no napkins in the picture, you can leave this out at a gathering and have effectively no clean-up from it. Low maintenance, low cleaning fingerfood
Curious what's in your 5-15 range.
You put this out at a party. Most of it is eaten, but there's a few scraps of various veggies/crackers left on the tray, and the bowl has 1/4 of the dip left. Throw out the extra food, scoop the extra dip out into the garbage, and put bowl in dishwasher.
Other party foods less messy:
Cheese and crackers
Chips
Hot dogs/sliders
Veggies, no dip
Nuts and olives (maybe if pits need to be put in a bowl it's messier)
Messier:
Wings
Skewers
Shrimp
This is up there for some of the least messy platters, the dip brings it down some along with the crackers but veggies are clean
Plus alternate healthy food meaning clean, it's definitely on clean side
Below that there's mass stuff, various sandwiches ranging from saucy burgers to some kind of deli sandwich that's not too messy. I think sandwiches can be on both sides of the scale

agree with the healthy food meaning clean. clean on the back end too.
also the platter in the picture is nice and organized and clean in that fashion.
i still think the need to clean up moves it towards the messy side. gotta clean up the platter and dip bowl.
even though i want to go lower, 13 probably gives us good coverage on both sides from a high/low perspective.
I don't think it's ever 11, and I could see this being as high as 17. 15 may be even better to guess I'm starting to think
14
14 is incorrect.
I'm pretty firmly on higher
So organized
I’m on higher also
Yeah higher
