I woke up in the middle of choking to death again; though to be accurate, it was towards the end of the process--woke up
I have a ton of info on that play but, similarly, it isn’t really my info to give out. If anyone is really interested, I can give contact info to the right guy to talk to. He also has an account on here (don’t think same guy as RR mentioned but maybe). I do think it’s ok to discuss vaguely though, especially in this particular corner of the forum.
It is next level high variance. Definitely possible to go on ridiculous losing streaks.
FWIW, I am reasonably confident Wu Jin Pen is a legit AP game. Actually just played and won on a play on that game an hour ago where I didn’t get down to the multiplier bowl. Def high variance though and I avoid high limit plays.
I brought my C game to the poker table today, and I lost $35 over 4 hours, which wasn't so bad. I made $41 on the slots over 4 hours to complete a breakevenish day.
MGM's Early Bird poker promo, which insta pays $300 for a boat AAA88-AAAKK, $400 for quads, and $500 for a straight flush, is causing the OMCs to limp/call their aces in the hopes of boating up or better. They did it at my table three times in the first hour yesterday and twice in the first hour today. It's annoying having to put AA into their limp/calling range, but the promo is usually over around 90 minutes into my session.
OTOH I raised 99 over a limped AA and only lost $22 total on a K3327r board, a runout that I would normally double barrel big if I wasn't against an OMC during the Early Bird, so I at least saved a good chunk on that. And yes, OMC declined to lead with his AA on the turn and the river.
one thing that really annoyed me is one local setup an entire row of that coin push thing, it was glorious for about a week, then everyone else figured it out and was bust, didn't mourn at all when they were all swapped out after a month - must have not passed the trial run simply because it was camped so hard you'd never find anything unless you were there at 4am

no, genuine coin pushers are not ev - there's a bunch of slot machines which emulate the experience and some of the are +ev in rare instances
there are hidden holes on each side which is what makes them profitable
i would find it hard to believe that a real world coin pusher would ever be +ev and even so, it's still not worth the time spent to pickup a few quarters

Next time I feel the impulse I'm going to do my best to just rebuy, then head out for a 15-20 minute walk to check machines, then return. That's my action plan for my ragequit leak.
Getting stacked twice recently has not done wonders for my winrate, but it's part of the game. Today and tomorrow I'll be resting, crossing off a thing or two from the short chore list, and studying, then back at it again on Wednesday.

This really is my last chance. I've exhausted all of my savings, investments, credit card limits, and personal loan equity, so it's time for a sustained run.
I'm one month riding on the spring wagon, and for the first time I've included cannabis on the verboten list, making me drug free (aside from caffeine) for a month for the first time since I was a preteen. Martha Quinn, JJ Jackson and Nina Blackwood were introducing a new music video channel back then.
I don't attribute this new grinding schedule fufillment to my sobriety—I was alcohol-free for two years and all I did was play video games and liquidate and deplete my assets and credit—and I can't blame the weed for that either, as I only partook once or twice a month.
But sobriety doesn't hurt. I've been tempted to blow up this seasonal experiment a few times over the last month, but I've swatted away those thoughts. Thing is: I've become good at quitting; I have a lot of experience.
For anyone who's given up trying to quit something because of numerous past failures, I'm telling you don't. You get better at quitting with practice. Try again. And again.
And if you're at the beginning end of the process, and you've been afraid to try quitting for the first time. Don't be like Ned Flanders' parents.

Was your omission of Alan Hunter and Mark Goodman intentional? BTW, Blackwood, Hunter, and Goodman all have current gigs on Sirius/XM, hosting shows on '70s on 7 and Classic Rewind (and maybe Classic Vinyl?). Brings back memories from my late teens/early 20s (but that's aging myself!).

Nah I just picked my three favorites. I remember that Goodman had a great perm and Hunter had a mullet before it came into fashion. I only remember only David Bowie and Billie Jean King having them before him.

Thank you for the kind words, gentlemen! I played well, just got wafflecrushed on the river over and over. I finished the 3.5 hour session -$375. It felt like I'd lost a lot more. I'm not particularly enamored with poker right now, but this is the life I've chosen.
The slots came through and won me $276 over 5 hours, so the day's loss was manageable. I found a rare Phoenix Link play that was marginally +EV, but it was $10 a spin on a game that is notorious for its variance, so I took a pass. I wasn't in the right headspace to sanction a potential $2000+ swing today.
I'll go back tomorrow because this weekly tally is keeping me honest. I can't play hooky without it showing up in the hours.

Thanks REDeYeS00! I'm not going to look at my poker hourly until I'm at least 350 hours in. Hopefully I'll have a few high hands under my belt by then and have that promo rake made back.
Yesterday I continued my pure dog excrement run on the rivers, where it's most expensive, even if I fold, which I did not do with AA when the A of the third flush card hit on the river and Villain bet $90 into a $260 pot, and showed me the flush.

I owlishly thanked the dealer for the top set, which is as close as I've ever come to berating a dealer. After my walk, I apologized to him. There's no excuse for that. They just pitch what the shuffler gives them. -$408 over 3 hours.
At the slots, I once again misclicked and hit a $30 max bet button on Ultimate X Bonus Streak with no bonuses, but this time I made $30 on the mistake. +$40 on the slots.
I don't want to go back to work today, but I'll join the masses who feel the same way but are going regardless.

Sound advice, golddog. Ty. I'm keeping an eye on my play. It's not stellar, but it's been B, B+. Good enough to win if I get out from under the shadow of the doom switch.
The downswing continues. During this, I have lost on every set I've flopped, turned and rivered, and I've made a lot of sets. Villains were nice enough to show on two of my big river folds, and I was beat both times. This does not include my top trips fold mentioned upthread, where I was also beat. So I could have been $500+ worse if I didn't find those folds.
-$265 yesterday from 4 hours of poker, and +$72 from 5 hours of slots.
Yesterday morning at 7:30AM I showed up on the slot floor to find that someone had already checked all the machines during the wee hours. I drove back home, napped, and showed up again during the evening, and I found a number of good slot plays despite the heavy advantage player presence, and I lost $10 over 5 hours, as one does sometimes.
At the evening poker table, I was happy to be away from the morning promo nits and their coolering ways, though the game was still regged up until midnight, when the promos ended and the regs left en masse.
At 2AM, less than one hour before the poker room closed, I found myself down a bit for the session when our dealer said—sotto voce—"Oh, here comes Action Mike." Said Mike sat down on my right with his beer and ordered another before the waitress could get away, and he proceeded to give me action. +$275 over 4 hours.
I'll be napping/sleeping today before going back for another evening shift, then I'll take two days off. Perhaps I'll write a review to balance the recent upsurge in poker content. On returning to work, if I put in another 4 hours of poker on both Wed and Thurs, I should hit 75 hours for the month and collect $200 in rakeback.
MGM hasn't put in much new AP stuff. But that new Frank game is bad and the Bride of Frank game is even worse imo and I’m up small over a handful of plays.
Agree with Rick that wjp is an AP trap but I think the reset 10s are more playable than a 15+ non reset. I have passed on a lot of $25+ resets lately though because you can lose big on those even when you hit multiplier. Lot of syndicates by me pass the game entirely, which is obviously incorrect but shows the game is pretty out of wack in risk/reward.
All these new games pretty much suck, best game is light n wonder’s dragon lanterns knock off lemmings, that game is really great. Edit: oh and obviously the “new” wheel of fortune highroller is strong but it’s not a new game.

They took Wu Jin Pen out of MGM months ago, replacing it with some phoney persistent Mo' Mummys and the Yeti clone of that. I'd love to see the new WoFHR in Springfield some day. They ripped out the old ones a year ago.
I did not know about the Cash Falls online! Do they set the state of the machines randomly? I think I'd still have trust issues with online sites, given poker's history with Ultimate Bet, Absolute, Full Tilt, et al.
I still see Ultimate Bet hats around occasionally, and I can never tell if they're being worn ironically or not.
