Overplaying Aces - Seen this in stakes all the way up to 5/10
OK, before I get a barrage of 'It's Mathematically the right way to play them' or 'It's the best way to play them for a results orientated player'......
Question is why is this so prevalent?
Is is simply because tight players sit and wait for them all night, then blast off when they finally get them?
I have made so much money off players who are dealt Aces who make a weak enough PF bet that I call and gamble. It's like they cannot get away from the hand, even when post flop, they are still only holding one pair and continue to blast away, turn and river. It amazes me how often this happens.
One runout, 1/3 game (Both of us holding around 1100, straddle in, my opponent raises to £35 in mid position. Folded all the way around to me and I'm last to act. I'm holding 72h, yes I'm not proud lol, but they were suited. I call. Flop is 7s, 7d, Kc. He bet's 80, I call. Turn is the 7c, he bets around 220, I of course just call. River is a blank (Can't remember, but no flush possible). He bets 350, I tank, scratch my head, some speech play (You've got a King? Lol). I put him all-in and he calls in an INSTANT.
In this case granted, he put me on a king (stupidly because I could have also been holding KK) and the hand played itself. It could be as simple as that, but I've won plenty against AA is circumstances where I flopped a legitimate draw, they did not bet enough for me to fold and I hit.
WTF are these guys thinking, putting in up to 300bb into a pot whilst only holding top pair?

Fold preflop
Preflop is awful and speech is bad, a well known tell of the nuts. You probably should raise turn.
Of course he would think AA was good on K777x.
Is this a BBV story or did you make this up, and you really aren't that bad?
You say it’s so prevalent and that’s the best example you can think of?
The player calling with 72 is criticizing others for their play?

You.... cracked aces?
At 1/3?
Amazing.
Nice troll post.
Thank-you. That's exactly the response I needed.
Not in my experience. Care to explain why the PF play is bad when I know how much the guy has in front of him?
Furthermore, I've talked many players into calling a massive over-bet. It may not work for you, but it does for me.
Are you seriously suggesting that I should raise when I have quads?
Of course?, When I called a 12BB 3-Bet before the flop? Is there not the slightest of chances that I just called with KK for deception?
It happened 2 weeks ago and his arrogance still has me thinking about the pot.

No it's not the best, but one that has me wondering why he did not think for one minute that I might have had him beat. Fair enough, I'm being critical of his play but am still amazed at how quickly he called an all-in and am trying to get a line on his thinking so that I can capitalise on it further in the future.
No it's not a troll. That's the problem with anonymity isn't it. I'm not some ego driven twat looking for gratification and I expected a more mature response.
Brilliant contribution. Bravo sir.
I'm going to lock this up. It's turned into nothing but a discussion of the example hand (which had results included, though as it's an example, not a hand you had questions about, understandable).
As for your main question, it's kind of unanswerable. They do it because they do. Not sure if it was a serious question, but if not, BBV is <----- that way.
