Hello my name is RUBRUB12 and I have been playing poker since I was 13 years old. Ever since I loved the game. I had and still do have this burning passion to be a professional poker player. To be able to live a life I want to live. I want to be able to have that freedom in life to be your own boss.
For those who don’t know me from my previous threads, im a 20 years old I love to travel and meet new people. Oh and I left my moms house to live in my car. I wasn’t able to play poker at my moms house because she didn’t like the idea of it, so I decided it was time to leave. Well not being rich I cant afford a place at the moment so I live in my car. I play on ACR under that screenname. Yeah so it’s a weird life I know. But I wouldn’t be able to do it without my amazing girlfriend. I do love my life.
So I use to jump around the stakes playing a mixture of sngs tournaments then slowly moving into cash. I have won a few tournaments online that probably led to my gambling addiction. I then played 25nl where I won and lost a lot and had to move down, binking tournaments on the way helped keep my bankroll alive. I would usually run up a big roll and lose it all at cash. It was a bad life. Not till recently I decided to change my life for the better. I got a free 10$ on ACR and decided that I would play 2nl for at least 10k hands to prove to myself I can move up.
I have stayed discipline and will post the graph after 10k hands. I turn 21 in 2months and im going to pursue my dream of becoming a professional poker player. I have a savings that I have saved up for this moment since I was 13 years old. I have never touched it and am happy to use that bankroll to play the live games. As of now I play on ACR and am trying to put in as much volume as I can
Well yeah so that’s my life and I will use this thread to post my 10k hand graph after I play 10k hands I will start to post regularly on my 10$ challenge to run this up. This is more of a disciple challenge then an actual making money challenge. I obv have money to deposit a large sum but I need to be discipline and grind my way up.
So that being said I will talk to you guys soon.

Damn… it’s been a long time since I’ve been on here.
I just went back and read through this whole thread and honestly it messed me up a little. I forgot how real this **** was. Living in my car at 21, chasing poker, thinking I had it all figured out but really just taking it day by day.
I’m 29 now. Turning 30 in May.
Life is completely different, but at the same time it’s not. Same hunger, same mindset, just applied in a different way.
I still play a lot of poker. Never stopped. Mostly live now, 3/5/10 at my local casino pretty consistently. I love it just as much as I did back then, maybe even more. It keeps me sharp and reminds me of where all of this started.
But poker isn’t how I make my money anymore.
I went all in on real estate.
I’m a full time agent now, about 4 years deep. I actually bought my own home in my first year, which still trips me out thinking about where I started.
This year I’ve sold 8 homes so far, and I just closed my biggest deal ever at $4.15M in San Carlos. That one felt unreal. I had a moment after closing just thinking like… how did I even get here from where I started.
Overall I’m over 150 homes sold now and $150M+ in volume.
But honestly, the stuff I’m most proud of isn’t even the business.
Still with my girl from back then. 12 years now. I’m planning on proposing soon.
Got a goldendoodle, 2 years old, and I swear he’s like my son 😂
And the truth is… I genuinely love my life right now. Not in a fake Instagram way. Just day to day, I’m happy. I enjoy the grind, I enjoy the process, I enjoy who I’m becoming.
That version of me in this thread had no idea how things were gonna play out. There were a lot of nights where I didn’t know what the next move was, just trying to survive and figure it out.
Looking back, that was probably the most important phase of my life.
It built everything.
Poker built a lot of it too. Discipline, emotional control, dealing with swings, thinking long term. I still use that every single day.
I’m actually thinking about posting more on here again. Real updates. Poker sessions, business wins and losses, life stuff… just keeping it real like this thread used to be.
I’ve also been posting more of my day to day on IG if anyone’s curious what life looks like now.

I remember reading this thread back in the day - there has to be a portion of us who resonate w living in the car and dreaming about being a pro instead of settling down; so, to the niche audience who embrace that part of life, like i did when i was playing in Turning Stone in 2017, we would much rather see you go out degening like you were doing 9 years ago but RE agent n wife n puppy is good life too!

Haha I feel that 100%.
There was something special about that time… just living day to day, no responsibilities, chasing it and not caring how it looked from the outside. I think a part of me will always miss that.
I still get my fix though. I play a lot of live 3/5/10 now so I haven’t fully left it behind.
Real estate just ended up being the game that worked out for me long term. Same mindset, just applied differently.
But yeah… that degen phase will always be a part of me 😂

Been playing on and off while building my real estate business, but poker has always been something I come back to. Figured it’s time to take it a bit more seriously again and document it.

Running pretty well lately, a few solid sessions in the 2k–3k range
Lifetime (since 10/25/23):
+44,689 over 654 hours
~$68/hr
146 winning sessions / 259 total (59%)
Mix of 3/5 and some 5/10
Plan right now:
- 2–3 sessions a week consistently
-Keep a stop loss
Goal is simple:
Hit 50K this year and keep building from there.
Balancing this with real estate, so we’ll see how realistic it is, but I want to give it a real shot.
Going to keep updating this thread with sessions and thoughts as I go.
