Road To Mystery Battle Royal

Road To Mystery Battle Royal

For the first time in Mystery Battle Royale history, PVI was cut.
My name is Marsel. I play Mystery Battle Royals on GG poker
I have played 78,000 tournaments (3 years)
10$ and 25$ Limits

In royale chats, people started active discussions.
Some think dark times are coming for royales.
What does it mean?

Everyone got cut differently: 10–25%.
This means rakeback statuses will be earned slower by these 10–25%.
RB is lower — so it affects ROI.

Players (ROI before RB):

Players with 0%–2% ROI
They are affected first.
Their profit depended a lot on rakeback.
Players with 5%+ ROI
Their main income comes from EV ROI,
so they are less affected in percentage.
Top players with 8–10%+ ROI
They have good income.
For them, nothing really changed.

For those on the edge, it’s a good moment to think:
Do you really need royales?
Do you even enjoy playing them?

Because only players who like the game
and are ready to work on it will stay.
Otherwise, the field will just remove you.

GG will not be nice to you.
And I think more cuts will come.
It’s just a matter of time.

My first reaction was 😄 that it’s an April Fools joke.
When I got confirmation, my brain switched on.

On $25 I don’t play more than 6 tables.
On $10 I keep 8 tables — better for ROI.
I think the % of regs will drop in the next months.
Average reg will become stronger.
Entry level for new regs will be higher.

This is my first discipline where PVI was cut.
My reaction is quite calm and careless.
And here is why.

2012
I started with sports betting.
All types of arbitrage with bookmakers:
surebets, after-goal, bonus hunting, value bets.
Used everything and made good money for 7 years.

Several times a month you got your accounts blocked.
Sometimes several times per day.
Each account had $150–$1500.
And often this money was lost forever.

Every block gave me strong stress.
I felt like electricity through my body
when I saw “withdrawal rejected” or “documents required”.
After many blocks, you start to doubt your strategy
and ways to avoid security systems.
Because of this, stress could last for weeks or months,
like sitting on a bomb.

Adaptation is a key skill, and I learned it.
With time you get used to constant changes.
To losing $1500–$5000 per month from blocks.
But income was higher, so it was fine.

I never was angry at bookmaker security.
It’s their business, they protect it and make profit.
Same with GG Poker — it’s a big business.
They will do everything to increase profit.
And we are just small parts of this system.
Easily replaceable.

So why am I telling all this?

What matters is what you do with this information
and your reaction.
Does it make sense to stress about things you can’t control?

Better focus on what you can control:
— review your strategy
— move to quality if your ROI is low
— find where you lose the most EV

Did you expect me to complain?
PVI cuts are nothing compared to losing money from blocked accounts.
In poker, everything is much softer.
If you are stress resistant and can adapt,
you won’t lose control even with bigger problems,
even if poker gets banned worldwide.

I don’t ignore your feelings about this.
I went through it myself.
Just sharing my thoughts and experience.

Your worries are not wrong.
But you need to think in a constructive way.
Those who adapt faster
and make correct decisions have an advantage.

If GG closes the room,
I will open a list of rooms the same day
and study what games are актуальны now.
This is my working time and my job —
to use it or move in this direction.

For me it will be the same as before:
change bookmaker
and move to a place where I can use my skills
and learn new ones.

I have data for my last 5,000 tournaments at the $25 level. My pre-rakeback ROI is 0% — all profit comes from rakeback and the leaderboard. The PVI cut has affected the $25 level, but it’s hard to estimate by how much right now. Some strong players will likely leave since they’re unhappy with the conditions, which should partially compensate by increasing ROI.

For my last 5,000 tournaments at the $10 level, my pre-rakeback ROI is +7%. My average profit is a bit over $1 per tournament — which is good, and I’m satisfied with it.

Unfortunately, I didn’t keep precise stats before that. But I know that over my last 15,000 games at the $10 level, I made +$15,000 in profit.

I’ll attach graphs for 10,000 tournaments here at some point.
