Day Two - Thursday March 19th
It’s pool season!
Here you will find the TonySoprano9 in his natural habitat. Grazing under the hot sun before bathing himself in the natural water source. This is his normal preparation before he ventures into the green felt jungle to tangle with the other predators in search of food.
$80 mix at the B with two full games today. We draw the main game which looks slightly harder than the must move.
It doesn’t go our way early and we are soon stuck $3,000. Only myself to blame for half of it as I dust off the cap in NL 2-7 to Nico Milgrom.
A loose player opens for 12 chips and there’s 2 callers before it gets to me. I have a made 10-8 and decide to squeeze and cap it. I knew I was good against the action in front of me as they all fold but unfortunately Nico calls behind me with a 8-7 perfect and I’m dead. Maybe I could have made it only half cap and got away from it. Have to work on my single draw game.
I get some chips back from Nico in Badacey with a 6-6 which is good to scoop:

I scoop another badacey hand, this time against Ali with a #1 dugi 4-9
And when it comes time to rack up and go play the tournament I’ve recovered to book a $800 win. In for $8,000, out for $8,800 after 4 hours.
We head over to the Horseshoe for the $400 PLO. They’re using the Normandy room again for this event as they did last year.
I jump in right at the end of level 3 and pretty much don’t win a hand.
My set goes down in flames here in a 3-way pot all-in on flop when villain makes a flush on the river.
The 2nd bullet goes down in similar fashion and I max late reg a 3rd bullet with the same result.
Money went in good 3 times and never came back. That’s PLO when it’s going bad for ya.
Let’s hope we’ve saved the PLO tourney run-good for the bigger buy-in event tomorrow.

How was the temperature in the Normandy Room? I had a bad experience a couple of years ago (it was a sauna).
They prob didn't turn it on because this time of year it's normally 20 degrees cooler. Apparently they didn't let the fact that heat records are being set this week convince them they should turn on the a/c.
Where is the main reg and all of that? Normandy also?
Last year it was terribly hot in there. If it's the same this year, I am not too tempted to play any tournaments next week. But keep us updated, maybe if they get enough complaints they might actually put on some AC (if it even exists).
I actually thought the temperature was on the colder side, at least in the early afternoon. Was a little sweaty in the evening though.

Day Three - Friday March 20th
Even hotter today. I believe it got up to 98 degrees.
Couple of hours by the pool again in the morning before heading to the B for the cash game.
The game of the future. $80 Mix. Three tables today! [emoji44]
I draw the main game. Doesn’t look to be any standout easier table today.
When you draw Eli Elezra’s table, because he’s a legend he gets to add two games to the mix - 7 Card Stud High and Drama-Dugi so we actually play an 18 game rotation instead of the normal 16.
We start poorly again, bricking everything in the draw games and are soon down $3k. Déjà vu.
Happily I get it all back in one round of PLO by winning the cap on two occasions. Both times it was capped on the flop and we go twice and I scoop each time.
I had a monster flush and straight draw against Eli and hit on both runouts, and against Grant my Aces turned into a flush and a straight.
We kick on from there and it’s smooth sailing the rest of the way. I reward myself with an Ice cream before racking up to go play the tournament.
In for $8,000, out for $11,500. +$3,500 after 5 hours.
I wish I could regale similar outcomes from today’s $800 PLO donkament, but alas no.
The first bullet lasted all of 10 minutes. All-in with the flush on the turn and villain made a boat on the river.
The 2nd bullet didn’t fare any better. Well it did last about 10 minutes longer, but this one I actually got it in bad.
3-way pot and the pre-flop raiser with obvious aces continued all-in on the flop with only his over-pair. I flopped two pair and also went all-in but unfortunately the 3rd player had flopped a set and I was dead.
5 PLO tournament bullets in two days and pretty much didn’t win a pot on any of them. Will be happy to switch to the fixed limit tournaments tomorrow.
A little supper in Eataly. Doesn’t look much but the Prosciutto Cotto sandwich was really good.

Yes, they’re a lot better now. I think Jon Turner was also very critical of the original ones and probably has more juice than I do lol.

Eli's name brings back memories. Way back when, in the WPT Shooting Star, he was a designated bounty (a "Star"). My buddy was playing it, and took out Eli, for a $2500 or $5000 bounty, I can't remember which. He also got a "I knocked out Eli Elezra" t-shirt, which he signed.
What percentage of the hands you play at the 80 cash mix that starts with 3 set tables has random players sitting down that aren't on the master text thread? And assuming it's not "none" are these other players straight tourists (like me) or regs that don't normally play mix.

Straight tourists that don’t play mix are rare I would say, but we get the odd one now and then. Lots of players in the group don’t live in Las Vegas but are regular visitors. We do pick up some regs from other games as well.

Day Four - Saturday March 21st
Why do I always have to get stuck to start the day?
Got stuck again in the cash game, about -$2,500. Recovered a little to only be down -$1,000 but the game wasn’t great so decided to rack up at 3pm and play the TORSE tournament today from the start.
Saw Muckpls at the B and had a chat with him. He was playing $1-$3 and just finishing his day while I was just starting mine.
Had a good first session increasing the 25k starting stack to 35k but then got high-carded off to open a new table after the break and went from a good table to a horrible one, making life a lot harder.
Treaded water the next session before increasing to 70k on 3rd break and end of late reg. 122 entries with $16k up too today. Not too shabby.
Had a last longer with Jon Turner at 1.1. My $200 to his $220 (I wanted to do it for $500 but he declined. He prefers just the triple draw games) and was happy to see him come over to pay off just before the 4th break.
We have an average stack of 80k on the 4th break with 39 players left and 19 spots paid, but going back to 5k - 10k limits can’t afford to lose hands now which is unfortunately what I did.
Had Aces up in Stud and guy made a flush then same guy finished me off in 2-7 when I bricked a 2358 draw 3 times. So 9 hours played for nothing today, but at least had a run which is more than I can say for the previous two tournaments.
The cash game was still running so I returned to the B. These late night short handed games with most of the players stuck (as all the winners have usually already left) can be good games and that was indeed the case.
The game lasted until 3am before it broke and I was able to win $1,700 thanks in part to this 6-6 monster at Badacey.
So the day wasn’t a complete loss. Recovered the earlier cash game losses, recouped the tourney bullet and made some grocery dollars.

Not much to say about the poker today as I don’t really like telling bad beat stories.
Lost two racks in the cash game and fired 2 bullets in the O8 tournament.
My god was the play bad in the O8 tournament. Despite taking several bad beats which I won’t go into detail about and never having more than 2x starting stack I still almost managed to grind my way into the money.
In other news Allen Kessler won the TORSE tournament for his 5th ring.
Happy for him. He gets a lot of stick unfairly but I like him and get on with him.
Let’s hope for a better day for us tomorrow.
Saw you up there chewing the fat with the FT. I was busy losing a buy-in in the Monster.

Day Six - Monday March 23rd
The Horseshoe pool isn’t open, not that I expected it to be. I don’t think it’s ever been open when I’ve stayed there, but it’s not a problem, the Paris pool is one of the better ones in town imo. It’s very large so it’s good for swimming lengths and the deck area is also vast with plenty of beds.
Of course first thing in the morning it’s all in shade and you have to go to the very edge of the deck to get any sun.
At the B there’s two games again and I get the must move and it’s really a table of legends today. As well as Eli Elezra who is a regular in the game we are also joined by Freddy Deeb (while he waits for the $1,500 - $3,000 Bobby’s Room game to get going) and Jen Harman.
I continue to swim against the tide, losing a rack in the game as the run bad continues.
And in the OE tournament I was never above 35k and succumbed shortly after late reg had closed.
Back at the B after the tourney I was able to recoup earlier losses thanks largely to making a #1 / #1 in Badeucey and getting paid by a 7-7 with #2 low.
On deck tomorrow: last tournament of the trip. $600 Mixed Triple Draw. Fingers crossed for a big finish.
