coordi, as a successful person, you're pretty insulated from the flights of the lower and middle class who've seen their jobs go oversees, seen the low skill alternatives never pay enough to earn a living wage because there's always an illegal immigrant who'll happily bunk up with 10 other people in a 2 bedroom apartment living off beans and rice to make $8 an hour

they are getting squeezed

meanwhile salary growth is stagnant and things like the cpi are misleading because they are heavily scaled by things like electronics which are getting cheaper and not scaled enough towards housing, education, & food - which have all exploded vs the earnings

fact is a generation ago a janitor at a high school could afford to buy a house

now the teachers can't even afford to buy a house, only the top level administrators can do that

they've seen a government make promise after promise to change things and make them better but never deliver, obama's healthcare plan did nothing except making it illegal to not have healthcare

and then... these people who've done nothing at all to help working class americans, then proudly declare mission accomplished, it's now time to dedicate our resources on the illegal immigrants for who a lot of these people feel are weighing down wages and thus a major part of this problem

we've already seen how low skill jobs are rapidly raising pay since covid and government policy began targeting illegals

but sure, continue to bury your head in the sand and act like people voted for trump not out of frustration and being desperate to try something new but rather because they are hateful bigots

and you're missing that those people saying we need to give illegals healthcare have not once made any efforts to give americans healthcare

There’s no evidence that’s why Trump won. And Democrats aren’t “refusing to provide Americans healthcare” that is absolute nonsense. Democrats expand healthcare access every time they are in power and Republicans do the opposite.

Every metric you've listed is objectively worse under Trump, so there is that.

I don’t call myself a progressive and often criticize progressives on this forum. You must be talking about someone else. As far as I’m aware coordi doesn’t either.

It’s not about party loyalty, you just have the facts wrong. The last time a Republican president expanded healthcare access was under Bush, and it was spearheaded by a Democrat congress. Obama and Biden both expanded access to healthcare during their presidency, and we recently had Trump and the Republicans take away ACA subsidies.
