Tom Dwan - the missing man
How convenient is it that he just falls off the face of the earth after issuing and bailing half way through a 50k hand
That is funny.
But dead nuts Tom is one of my heroes. He found these weird bluffs that no one was capable of in his time.
I read an interview of him. He left halfway through. He got a phone call and went to fly back east. The interviewer said, it's cold over there.
Tom said, I will buy a jacket at the airport.
That is gangsta

Wrong video my bad
Tom will be doing a livestream on the runitonce YouTube channel this week. (It will be an interview not a playing session.)
Gus Hansen will be interviewed as well!
Recent live interview not so interesting.
1st 1 implied he had fully recovered. 2nd 1, maybe he hasn't. (Not a lot of interesting poker material in this 1.)

Does Dwan ever say anything other than this? Any topic ever and its always the exact same BS. "Oh i know this but cant talk right now etc etc" Then a ton of pointlessly vague comments.

I actually think both Tom and Polk are idiots. Dwan owes money to everyone and Doug really doesn't have the chops to run anything he should have got someone else to do that but its fun to watch them war on Twitter.

What you're saying is Tom can borrow limitless sums and Doug DOES own and run things but they're the idiots. Got it.
I spent some time playing in the Big Adventures tournament and it was actually pretty enjoyable. Now I noticed the final prize, a trip to the Maldives, will be drawn live on stream.
From what I understand the winner will be randomly selected from the Top 100 players.
I didn’t get anywhere close to that ranking, but I’m still curious to see how the draw goes. Did anyone here manage to reach the Top 100?
Unfortunately for you, the point is that Doug IS running businesses, which means he can. Lots of people do things in ways we may not like, but to assert that they can't do what they're clearly doing is, well, idiotic.
Irrelevant of anything else, to call DP an idiot when he's been super succesfull in pretty much all of life, is quite frankly idiotic in itself.

There is a big difference between Doug and Tom. One continues to be very successful in life and one doesn't. For anyone stating that Tom can 'borrower limitless sums of money' and plays in the biggest games around the world as some sort of proof he is successful in life, has no idea what that really means.
In fairness, Tom was just pointing out how Doug progressed his brand by airing out the dirty laundry of others and now it’s his own possible issues coming to light.
Doug sort of went off on him after that, but Tom isn’t wrong on that point. Sure, it could be the pot vs kettle, but Doug escalated the drama with his comment to Tom and now it has all gone haywire.

Doug Polk thought that some fish was cheating because they made a terrible call and because, he suspected, their chair was vibrating communications to them. Nothing about what he hypothesized about there sprouted from the tiniest seed of intelligence. It was something a very dumb person would think.
People can have excellent minds and be very good at things, but that doesn't mean they aren't, effectively, idiots in a lot of spots. When you put all your proverbial eggs in one basket, like into poker or whatever, you can leave yourself lacking in other areas.

This makes me think he might be right.
I don’t really understand why Dwan gets any attention, Why do people care what he has to say?
Dude owes tons of money, about 15 years past his prime, clearly losing his marbles.
He reminds me of Mike matusow but for some reason people are still in awe of him, just baffles me.

If you got into poker at a certain time he was like the phenom you wanted to watch. He was killing everyone while playing loose aggro and he just seemed to be able wield that style better than anyone else. All the older poker mini celebs seemed to be scared of him. And then there was just the fact that a kid that young would sit with that much money, as much as he could get his hands on and put it all on the line repeatedly. Once you capture the audience by being that dominant and game changing it seems like you will always garner a certain amount of interest, just like Jordan or Tom Brady or a given transcendent, generational figure associated with an era of sport.

I got into poker at that time, still doesn’t take away from who he has been for the last 15 years.
The whole aura of him is long gone, now he’s just anothr degen that owes tons of money and is not competitive at all.

It's better to be a has-been than a never-was. Dwan has achieved lifetime GOAT status and deservedly so.
