It's a $10 straddle game, so the open was 3x.

Crap. I overlooked that detail in your OP.

When the V donked out on the flop, I thought top pair with a straight draw, or other combo flush/straight draws were possibilities for his hand that I was still ahead of.When he bet the turn relatively large, I thought he was saying "I can beat a pair of kings" (though I suppose a K high spade draw that turned top pairs was also a possibilty). I did not think he would lead the

What the hell is he doing betting 2P on the river? Does he think we got there with AQ?

Maybe a blocking bet, but AA and KK both hit.

In order for a block bet to be correct, it has to be able to get called by worse, or stop an opponent from bluffing and forcing us to fold.

What hands does hero have that are worse than whatever his 2P was, assuming he flopped 2P? What would hero turn into a bluff here?

It's madness for him to barrel off on this run-out. His 2P can get value from AK on the turn, but he's holding dust on the river. We'd have to be maniacal to turn KQ or AQ into a bluff here.

Worse hands that are still in: AsXs, KsXs, and there are a few 9cXc, 8c7c type hands as well, maybe JcTc (or a sticky 88 that didn’t fold turn).

Those hands are calling a bet? Or those hands are getting turned into bluffs if V checks?

Neither seems all that likely.
