Iran funded most of the terrorist organizations in the Middle East and was definitely a threat to acquire nuclear capabilities again after Trump dissolved the JCPOA. They were very anti-democratic.

I think he's trying to point out that the Iranian government slaughtering 32k+ of its own people in the streets the last couple of months, isn't a good thing... and removing the people in power will give the Iranian people a fighting chance. I'm not advocating for this move, but if you've gone this far, you need to finish the job, or it's all pointless.
I'd prefer having just kept the JCPOA in place and keeping close eyes on Iran. But Trump is doing Trump things... he's trying to win that nobel peace prize after all. :(
