they follow a script - so when you ask grok a question like that, it's just going to google search it and give you the most common response

there's zero originality in them, what they are is search engines which are able to connect the dots

you can ask it about the circumference of a planet and it can figure it out by looking it up, in the event that it doesn't find it, it can look up certain estimates of stuff, and then look up the math required to calculate that and then connect those dots together to give an answer

that's the difference between an llm and google search - google search is "here is what exists on the internet" and llms are "you want to know what A+B is and although there's nowhere on the internet that has that info, we can find what a is and what b is and i'll add them up on your behalf"

so simply asking grok to figure out when something is profitable will never work unless it has access to the source code - which it doesn't - all it can do is go "well janet wrote on twitter that she always wins after going to church" and "trooper97 is posting a big win where the number is 934" so let's tell them they need to go to church and then play any number over 900

so when you ask chatgt "I arrive in vegas on Thursday and leave on Sunday" what's a good itinerary for me - i want to play a lot of poker, see a lot of titties, and eat the best food - and what chatgpt will do is not actually think and plan it out but google search thousands of times in a millisecond and just rinse and repeat other trip reports etc and then repackage 40 different sources of info into one clean itinerary - if the best stip club/poker room/restaurants in vegas has nobody writing about it, then it won't be included

Yep, I get what you are saying, while grok 4.20 beta is probably sort of the same, it's pretty interesting and cool, you see the 4 agents research independently and then start chatting with each other to make corrections and get more precise answers and you see the log of this going on.

So, I would say it's going to give much better answers and also it likely weights by sources, like if some random posts on X about a something then it's not giving much weight but if a verified source posts then it gives much more weight, I would guess Trooper posts are at the low end of that. lol

i'm sure you've also run into weird limitations it has sometimes, everyone here has seen when they ask it to create images and despite giving very easy to do and explicit instructions it is unable to do it - you want a turtle to be eating a bowl of cereal while holding a nepalese flag, it for some reason never gives the turtle the flag, it can't, just can't be done, on the 12th iteration it finally gives it necklace of tibetan prayer flags instead and you decide fine, that's close enough and accept it

this is because a turtle holding a nepalese flag is one of those niche examples where it just couldn't find an example to emulate

will definitely check out the new grok, that's a good idea and will save a lot of time - primarily because it's pretty standard now in coding (recently went back to tech and entire company uses ai at work) and you'll have one agent write the code and another one review it - it's better to use different source llms like anthropic and openai together, but you're still getting better work done having one opus 4.5 agent review another opus 4.5 agent's work because the agent which wrote it has tunnel vision which will makes it miss the errors the other one catches

coding is where ai really thrives - because there's millions of published lines of code out there, you tell it what you want and it can scan those millions of lines and find what you need and piece it all together for you - even humans code that way themselves - easier to lookup what you're trying to do, find that someone in poland figured it out and shared with the world his solution back in 2013 and you copy his code, paste it into your work and modify the pieces needed to make it fit - that's 99% of coding - very little of it is original and innovative thinking - even the early days of facebook was built by recycling an algo that originally used for a tennis project

1. Trooper at least has a stable relationship and isn't relying on his parents (but is relying on his live-in GF for $$ likely). Trooper also can have more charisma, but his personality has been radioactively decaying over the past couple of years.

2. El Diesel / Rice / Vegas Nomad at least has some sort of a steady job. He obviously is weird as hell, has strange habits and will never feel the touch of a woman. But he at least is intelligent enough to know he can't grind $10 online tournaments to make a living, and is doing something about it.

3. Casino Nomad has both a job AND a girlfriend. Although quirky at times and the fact he is dealing with a severe craps gambling addiction, he at least has the sense to utilize his punts in the pits into some reasonable value ("free" or discounted room rates).

Pman is not only unemployed, he is largely unemployable at this stage of his life. He should have kept dealing at Sahara (or another room since they closed) and grinded poker on the side so he wouldn't have to take to begging for a stake at online microstakes. And we can be confident, with math proof certainty, that he isn't pulling any women.

Pman is him. Pman will always be him.

The only good thing that pman has right now is youth compared to the others. Right now at around 37-38 Brad Owen is burnt out from all the grinding and is contemplating a different direction. Pman is 7 years younger and better get it together if he hopes to not live in the tunnels at 40. He still has the youth to put in serious grinding at 30 but 7 years will fly by quick if he continues to just play video games and smoke weed.

Serious grinding? He might as well grind roulette he's got the same chances that he does with poker.
