Murder tends to create an evidence trail. It is a difficult crime to conceal. At minimum there is a missing person, last known whereabouts etc, and it's remarkably difficult to get rid of a body. You need a bit more than 'Somebody said whoops in an email.'

while i agree with your general premise, the idea that someone with his kind of resources couldn’t figure out how to obscure provenance or muddy the evidentiary trail is extremely naive. especially when things are happening on a private island he controlled and far away from normal day to day oversight. the quality and even existence of evidence can be scrubbed or just simply fade over time and he never had a local sheriff down the road who would just pop on over to do a wellness check because he heard screams in the middle of the night - for evidence to be found, someone would have to alert the authorities in a timely and convincingly enough manner to both get a search warrant and want to figure out the process and jurisdiction of sending agents to the island to go on a fact finding mission
