3 on 3 OT is brutal for a decider.

Ya not really hockey. Silly they do that for Olympics.

2014 was 4 on 4. Seems the solution is 3 on 3 for the round robin and then one full period of 5 on 5 seems good before going to shootouts in elimination games. Maybe extend it to two or three OTs for the gold medal.

Agree, but instead they decided to go straight to 10 mins of 3 on 3, then shootout.

Gold medal game is extended to a whopping 20 mins of 3 on 3.

So just for the hockey did all nations get a chance at the QF through the play offs even if they were shocking in the prelims?

12 teams.

Top 4 got a bye.
5-12 played a round.
1v8, 2v7.... for QF
Top seed vs Bottom seed for SF
Finals

So yes, even if you went 0-3 and outscored 30-0 in the round robin, you technically could still win the gold medal.

This is, by far, the worst “let’s create a false narrative” story I’ve ever read. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/co...

Super small sample, but I would think the 3 on 3 would lead to a better chance for the worse team to win. But maybe it's the opposite.

Yes a sudden death 3 on 3 anything can happen.

If it was a full game of 3 on 3 the (far) better team would win like every time.

I meant in comparison to a 5 on 5 OT.

USA!

With the victory in Extra Ends,
Team USA women's Curling advances to the medal round for the first time since 2002.

a shorthanded goal? in this economy ??

I've tried women's World Cup, Caitlin Clark and now hockey. They just aren't very food their sport.

Usa women's curling match was too exciting. They should just win when they are 98% and not make me sweat it.

if they won they'd be running above expectation, i.e. getting lucky.

I was watching the Canada feed. They must not have a delay or care. As she was coming off the ice she looked right into the camera and gave us a "That's what I'm ****ing talking about!" Her routine was great.

The f-bomb made its way onto the NBC/Peacock stream as well.

I really like her style. So much more fun than the typical skater.

Yeah, I'd never seen or heard of her, but she was really fun to watch.

Just watched the replay. Made me tear up a little bit.
