Should We temporarily turn off Auto rebuy while taking a shot to a higher limit

Hey guys i am an mtt player transitionning to cash game and i am wondering if you turn off auto rebuy when taking a shot example you want to shot nl 100 with 3000$ and decide to allow yourself 2buy ins shot do you literally open 2 tables with 2 buy ins and turn off auto rebuy to be sure to not spend more or do you keep auto rebuy and check with your eye if you lost more than 2 buy ins ? Cause i thought of situations where if you let auto rebuy and check manually imagine you spent your 2 buy ins and you see a hand that you have to play for example KJo at the CO you may think well thats+ev even if i spent my 2 buy ins i must open this hand and if you dont then what do you do with KQs or with 77 etc hence why i am wondering if attributing strictly the number of buy ins and not more is a better strategy for taking shots but the problem is that you will maybe falk to like 40bb and have to play a different strategy, please let me know what you think about this and how you handle your shots, thank you in advance😀

losing a third buy-in would be rare if you do sit-out next blind, but it also shouldn't be the end of the world really.. better to just stick with the buyin amount you do normally. When I move up I usually just play 1 reg cash table and play very short sessions.

I think you would want to cover the Rec stacks for the max extract, so as long as that's going on then whatever. Maybe better to just track the BR and call it quits as soon as the shot drops under 200bb lost, even at 199bb lost you can still risk a full stack off the remaining 1bb left in the shot. Worst possible case is you lose about 3 bi total

I definitely wouldn't get hung up on an extra half a buy in here or there like this. Keep auto-rebuy on. If you lose 2.5 buys instead of 2 buy-ins it's not the end of the world. By the way, you should probably allow yourself more than a 2 buy-in loss as well. I'd go more like 5. A 2 buy-in loss can happen very easily even if you make absolutely no mistakes. You will also likely need time to get used to the flow and the regs at the new level. For those reasons a larger buffer is better in my opinion.

If you're not comfortable with that then grind up more money at the lower limit until you are comfortable with losing that amount.

Thanks everyone for your answer, yeah keeping auto rebuy definitely seems more logical, it’s good to have a community that can help with these little questions really thanks a lot😀

If your br management strat is 30 buy ins then you would need to drop to nl50 with 1500 right? Giving you 15 buy ins to dump at nl100.

This playing with 2 buy in lark and not auto topping is scared money, we arent really taking a shot at all. Work out what you are prepared to lose and play the most +ev, that means buying in full. Bankroll strat is there to deal with variance and ensure we dont bust.

just give yourself a range of stop loss. 2-3 buy-in shot. problem solved

I think it's fine. You can even short stack if you want, until you are comfortable.
