Epstein and Maxwell clearly committed crimes. One is dead and the other is in jail.

I agree that it was never going anywhere. I argued that exact point before the election. I'm not going to say that you insisted that Democrats were all over the Epstein files, but many people did. Its just one of those things that was super important until it isn't and I'd prefer these things get seen through to completion and not just get brought up again in 6 years when its convenient.

You can have moral panics and “shame” people. But there is nothing to legally do when there is no actual evidence of anything.

The bottom line is you can have an endless supply of letters from “Jane does” and anonymous hotline tips; but if that is all there is than you have nothing.

It seems very unlikely the raping of underage girls stopped when Epstein was caught. Maybe we should investigate and catch some of these monsters. Maybe that will lead to the people that are currently raping underage girls. Maybe it will be a deterrence for future raping and trafficking of underage girls.

I don't have any expectation that it will occur. We've already proven that Catholics casually and actively support pedophiles and have been for centuries.

I don't know what Congress has to do with it. It's a criminal investigation. I'm sure there are plenty of leads in the papers to start investigations.

Lord Mandelson is just now having two of his addresses searched by police on suspicion of misconduct in public office (unauthorised disclosure of market-sensitive government information to his pal Epstein). But that's not related to all the young girls and Mandelson's gay anyway. (Though you do wonder if boys were also involved.) If the emails suggest lines of investigation against various personalities, it depends whether US authorities want to pursue it as the Met in London are doing. I've a feeling they may not want to do that, not least as it might inconvenience the President.
