I'm struggling with the extra two words. I can make some two step connections - fence, tower, eye. I don't understand cycle?
Mole or spike, for digging / using spikes to climb?

I don't like mole at all
spike is meh but not completely bad
the reason I'm thinking cycle is the cycle of the small ball/rock/whatever rolling and building up bigger and bigger; that rotation cycle
other stretches:
cotton - also white and looks like snow; used to depict snow in dioramas, etc.
eye and spy - for people seeing an avalanche and sounding a warning
India - would have avalanches in the mountains
ivory - white like snow; not nearly as good as cotton
spring - I think they are most common in spring as when snow melts the foundation gets more unstable?
