President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

I'm not of the mind that leftists are the ones who should be mending the bridges

well you have that in common with the right.

So trump etc win by common agreement on the collapse of the bridges.

I feel optimistic that most normal people really despise ICE agents murdering US citizens

This gives me hope that in the long run common sense will win out

That means a rejection of the flippant cruelty that encompasses this administration

In that scenario I am more than fine with the mass majority of these people being ostracized from society. Their decision making has been compromised and they are unreliable.

I'd expect nothing less for myself in the opposite scenario

whys he gotta cry half the time hard to take him seriously . Jimmy said someone in the right has to make a change. The right will never want to do that if you always spout this bad faith nonsense. Just because she had dropped her kids off at some point in the day to frame it like that is not gonna build any bridges. she was clearly protesting not dropping off a kid

Well, maybe because all the sources we have said she dropped off her 6-year-old, and then stopped to witness and protest against ICE because they were in here area. She was driving home. There's no other reasonable timeline that makes sense, just based on the fact of her child's drop off time (9am), and the time she was killed 9:37am.

As far as Kimmel... I have some funny stories on this guy, but I can tell you from personal accounts, he's a genuinely emotional dude. Whether he's playing it up in that clip and others, can't say though.

Inflation is massive everywhere except for gas prices

I don' think inflation is a suddenly winning argument at all when then the Dems spent four years downplaying it and saying the President is not responsible for inflation.

lol

right. because saying inflation doesn’t matter worked out so well.

i think up until pretti there was enough circumstantial pieces that wouldn't justify but could explain why or how something transpired the way it did and now there's a big moment for internal reflection

i was very surprised that there wasn't a response greater than floyd to this though

Probably because Floyd's murder was essentially a slow-torture methodical execution with cops just standing around watching.

Despite admitting to not having watched the video of the attack, in which a man rushes towards Omar while she is speaking while shouting and spraying her with a liquid, Trump gave his opinion on the assault.

Asked for his response by ABC news, he replied: “No. I don't think about her … I think she's a fraud. I really don't think about that. She probably had herself sprayed, knowing her."

When pressed on whether he'd watched footage of the incident, Trump said: "I haven't seen it. No, no. I hope I don't have to bother."

The attacker will doubt will be getting a pardon, maybe promotion to Head of ICE, considering his social media is all Trump worship.

Is this not the American dream? Is Trump not billions richer after getting elected? Is USA not #1?

Yeah, I agree it sucks Omar was able to go from 250k net worth to 10 million in a year, or whatever it may be

Hardly the only case of this happening though. Seems the main issue is shes Somali and a woman

Hmmm..... I read the whole thing and I'm not sure what to think. A lot of it is guesswork but it does seem like she's (or her husband) made a bunch of money. I would like to see a more concrete analysis.

With Floyd it was a racist white cop that killed a black man. So there are millions of people in the US who view racist activity by police officers as unacceptable. I read an op ed piece written by a black police Lieutenant in the St Louis police force who said that in his experience roughly 15% of white police officers in police forces are racist and will do racist things. About 15% of white police officers are not racist and will do everything absolutely correctly. And the rest of white officers will depend on their leadership to show them how to behave in situations where they are arresting black people.

With the ICE killing of a white male who was carrying a gun after a white woman was killed because she tried to drive away this is a very different situation. The number of people in the US who are protesting against the way ICE is being used to arrest illegal immigrants will be large and probably in the millions if ICE continues to illegally detain, arrest and kill people as part of their daily routines. Especially when the people aren't immigrants.

But understand this: The difference between overt racism ending in the death of black people is very different than an attempt to stop illegal immigration where it isn't specifically supported by racist people. There are many white immigrants who will suffer from what is happening. And there are many white citizens who are protesting not for racist reasons but because what is happening with the use of power by a President, in direct conflict with the law, is unacceptable.

The other problem is that there is now terror with regards to ICE occupation in blue state cities. So there will be a lot of people who will not feel safe. Especially if they are carrying weapons to defend themselves and/or people who are being illegally assaulted by ICE. So the response will be mixed. It is stunning that in MN the local population has continued to come out in protests with support of their local population. But they know that any hostile activity by protestors will result in deaths from ICE. So the protests will be very different than the Floyd ones. The irony is that some of the violence in the Floyd protests was done by non-protestors. Non-protestors would never cause problems in ICE protests because they know they will be killed by ICE.

The result is that if the President continues to use ICE as he has in the past (at the behest of Steven Miller) Republicans will likely lose control of the Senate in 2026. Regardless of what he does at this point, they will lose control of Congress in 2026.
