Israel/Palestine thread

Well, if they got rid of all the gangs and guns and religious extremism this would be a possibility. Which is to say, never happening.
Agreed. Israel will find a way to sabotage it. Whether it's propping up a terrorist group or straight up rejecting peace deals, they'll always find a way to sabotage it.
Also lol at Kushner presenting this nonsense. My god the Trumps and Kushner can't die soon enough.
Tehran releases official figures on deadly protest crackdown
Iranian state television said on Wednesday that 3,117 people were killed during the nationwide protest movement that began on December 28.
Lol at this number with Ali still in the driver's seat but regardless, killing over 3k of your own people in three weeks because you're afraid your own people might come to realize that their leader is a giant thunder **** who's been looting them for decades is pretty strong.
the things they say...if a non-Jew claimed they said those things then they would get banned for antisemitism. its amazing.
It is looking like more civilians have been murdered by the IRGC in Iran in the last month than Tianamen and Gaza combined. A lot on Jan 8-9 when security forces indiscriminately attacked large crowds with machine gun fire.
My twitter timeline is just nonstop obituaries, most of the citizens young and educated, including a lot of women. Our "allies" Turkey and Qatar are actually in full panic mode trying to convince the West that the regime isn't all that bad, and we should give them a break.
As a severely weakened IRGC is perfect for them, but Iran in Civil War or as a secular western aligned state would create a lot of problems. The left wing Euros of course have been bought and paid for by Qatar, so they will go along with whatever Qatar wants. But Trump is a complete wildcard, who really doesn't like the IRGC, so who knows what he will do.

I'm skeptical that number will come close to Gaza but I definitely don't understand the love for the Iranian regimen. I'm not for air strikes to "help" the resistance but who wouldn't be for a bunch of mullahs getting kicked out of power?

Well, Iran vs Gaza death civilian death toll comparisons are going to involve a lot of semantics arguments over who is and who isn't a civilian (Is a 17 year old Hamas spotter being paid $100/month a civilian? Is a protestor who was part of a mob throwing rocks at regime forces a civilian?, etc. etc.)
Regardless, the IRGC has been a spiritual avatar of third world resistance against The West for the last 40 years, so a lot of Islamists and leftists have emotional investment in the regime, that is completely disconnected from the actions of the regime, which are mostly indefensible.
For other regional actors and China it is just geopolitical pragmatism. A weak IRGC/Iran benefits their strategic position; and they are completely indifferent to the well-being of the Iranian people. Of course they are completely indifferent to the Palestinian people too, and their support is just pragmatic geopolitics; but that is a different discussion.
The regime sells most of their fossil fuels to China on the black market. And China gets to name their price and pay in yuan. Why would they want to give that up?
And a functional western integrated Iran could potentially flood the market with low cost, high quality petroleum and natural gas, driving prices down. Which would be a major problem for petro states like Saudi, Qatar and Russia. UAE is western aligned and diversified enough they would be fine.
And Iran in Civil War would create a giant problem with armed militias and refugees, a la Syria and Iraq.

I doubt that the Iranian Killings from the last month will match Gaza but I won't ever give Ali the benefit of the doubt or ever compare his regime to that of Hamas. His people are cattle to him, and I put him in a special bin over anyone on earth - arguably over Kim Jong Un. Because at least with Kim we are aware that he's operating a 25-million-man prison, Ali tricks fools (mostly Americans) into thinking that his society runs normally with an occasional hiccup here and there.

I'd be willing to accept Israel's official numbers and feel confident it will be quite higher than Iran but Iran being in the thousands is already horrible.
Iranian immigrants must be some of the top performing in the US, I'm guessing not far behind east Asians going from off the boat to doctors, lawyers, etc... in a generation.
They would be top of my list for entry to the US from that region. Syria would be a hard pass.

The Iranian population in Los Angeles is in large part Shah aristocrats (and their descendants), who were already educated and wealthy. And unlike other groups, they were able to take a lot of their wealth with them.
They came with capital and invested it into local businesses and real estate. They are very successful and hardworking, but calling them "off the boat" isn't very accurate.
There is also a sizable Persian Jewish community that mostly emigrated generations ago in better times, and came with education and capital.
Further waves of Iranian immigrants have also included a lot of highly educated professionals and businessmen, many of whom go back and forth between countries (or at least did, who knows what the future holds?).
Iran is very different from most third world countries, especially Muslim ones, in that most of the dysfunction is directly due to the political class, not the people themselves. Russia is probably the closest equivalent in this respect.

Ill bow out of after this post because this is the IP thread and I dont want to divert it with Ali but I think the 3k mark is a sweet summer child tactic. A lot of us in 2026 can't comprehend a govt mowing down thousands of protesters on each street and the next street with machine guns and Ali is brainwashed enough to think that the 3k figure is reasonable behavior.
They certainly may not all be 15 year olds with shotguns playing call of duty but I'd wager that once enough time passes and the dust settles, those once bogus articles that couldn't possibly be true end up not being such an outlandish death toll after all.

Yeah, admitting to 3,000 you can only assume it's more.
There was an interesting ama on Reddit from a guy in Iran that found a workaround the internet block and was answering questions.
His account seemed to checkout as he has a post history of living in Iran and being a techie. I can dig up the link if you're interested.

Another point that is obvious to almost everyone. Practically nobody supports the IRGC. For all these people saying
“not a peep outta!”
“It was always about Jews”
No as many Jewish journalists have in their own words said that the crisis in Gaza has constituted the worst civilian death ratio in recent modern warfare. Yet The IDF is given a platform to speak on MSNBC, Fox News and CNN all the time. There is no platform for the IRGC on these mainstream news stations. Heck even on rumble or YouTube you rarely if ever hear from an IRGC official. Most people in the world including Muslims are as opposed if not more opposed to the IRGC just as they are to the IDF.
Maybe they just forgot to add a zero. It's why countries like this do what they do to suppress freedom of speech and the press. It keeps the rest of the world thinking that everything's cool.
On 25 January, Time reported that a specific list included 30,304 protest-related deaths registered in civilian hospitals for 8 and 9 January alone.[2] The same day, Iran International estimated the number at above 36,500.[4]
Israeli citizens aren’t allowed to enter Iran. You have to be clueless to fall for that.

It also looks like Israel’s economy is faring quite well in the aftermath of October 7th, due to all the factors I’ve previously mentioned and counter to multiple statements made by Victor, Chezlaw and others.
The BDS movement doesn’t really work if it’s mostly comprised of fair weather leftists and insignificant organizations.
You guys could also make a separate thread for Iran but I understand if you just continue to post here because “No Jews, no news, baby!”

This is another ridiculous statement by the knight that shows he hasn’t bothered to read any of the posts in here. Formula72 and 57 on Red are maybe the only 2 pro Palestinian posters who’ve displayed any nuance in their support for Palestine versus the Iranian regime.
It’s not even clear if most of these posters are aware that Iran is a major supporter of Hamas.
So what's going on?
We're all genocided out. I expect you still have an appetite, though?
A person who is not willing to fight for his values and principles does not deserve to have them defended for him.
And your personal hatred for me, because you need someone to symbolize the "massacres" for you, makes me feel compassion for you. It's almost heartbreaking.
doyle, the atrocities by the Extremist Jewish Supremacists continue, but theres not really anything to debate anymore. almost everything Ive posted about in this thread has proven true at this point.
I did get a chuckle out of this Haaretz headline after you guys spent years saying the Health Ministry was lying. ofc, it is still a severe undercount.
