I was reading that many of the members of his board are countries banned from coming to the US
Tying Laos in with Trump, I thought it was bizarre that before his most recent immigration ban of 75 countries he had another one of like 6 countries with Laos being one of them. I was like wtf, what did Laos do to deserve that? I guess close ties with China? Kind of give up trying to find logic in any of his decisions.
I guess it might have been because Laos is poor and has a nominally communist government, but more likely someone else just whispered the country's name in his ear for whatever their reasons were and that was good enough for Trump.
Housenuts also lucky he got to see Sihanoukville before it became ground zero for the scam centers.
The way that place changed due to Chinese investment is a good example of what not to do.
I've never been to Sihanoukville, but I heard from someone who has run a business in Laos for 20+ years and traveled extensively in Cambodia that the number of casinos that Chinese companies have built in Sihanoukville far, far outstrips demand and that the main purpose of many of them is money laundering.

There was a movie theatre there run by an ex-pat. It was like $2 to go. If there was a particular movie you wanted to see you'd just let him know a few days in advance and he'd get it via torrent and add it to the upcoming show list. Beers were a buck. It was a good time. And ya, lots of casinos there.
As I enter my dotage, I'm not sure I could find 20 countries on the map.
