President Donald Trump

I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?

So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at

Given that Greenland et al seem to be against the easy way, everyone's view here is the hard way, aka bombs on Greenland are coming?

I'll take the other side.

I'll take the other side.

We are about whether he is threatening the use of military force, not whether he would actually use force. The latter is at least debatable. The former most certainly is not.

Under the Chagos plan, the UK is expected to lease Diego Garcia for 99 years, with an option for a 40-year extension.

When Keir Starmer announced the UK had signed the deal on 22 May 2025, Starmer said: "President Trump has welcomed the deal along with other allies, because they see the strategic importance of this base and that we cannot cede the ground to others who would seek to do us harm."

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also welcomed it, and issued a statement saying that Trump had "expressed his support for this monumental achievement".

Rubio said the deal "reflects the enduring strength of the US-UK relationship".

"We stand ready to continue our collaboration to promote peace, security, and prosperity in the Indian Ocean and beyond," he added.

The agreement followed Starmer's visit to the Oval Office in February, during which the US President indicated he would be prepared to back the Chagos deal.

"They're talking about a very long-term, powerful lease, a very strong lease, about 140 years actually," Trump said then. "That's a long time, and I think we'll be inclined to go along with your country."

that was weeeks ago. And now ...

'An act of GREAT STUPIDITY'

Here is the latest Truth Social from President Trump on the UK's Chagos Islands deal:

"Shockingly, our “brilliant” NATO Ally, the United Kingdom, is currently planning to give away the Island of Diego Garcia, the site of a vital U.S. Military Base, to Mauritius, and to do so FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER.

"There is no doubt that China and Russia have noticed this act of total weakness. These are International Powers who only recognize STRENGTH, which is why the United States of America, under my leadership, is now, after only one year, respected like never before.

"The UK giving away extremely important land is an act of GREAT STUPIDITY, and is another in a very long line of National Security reasons why Greenland has to be acquired.

President Donald Trump has shared an image, seemingly AI-edited, that shows him sitting alongside a map of the U.S. that includes Greenland, Canada and Venezuela as he speaks with European leaders.

His aides couldn't get the robot to paint just 1 US flag on there?

by Land O Lakes

Kremlin: "With Greenland, the United States will become the second largest country in the world after Russia, surpassing Canada in area."

This is an excellent way to nudge Trump into taking not just Greenland, but Canado or Mexico as well.

Btw isn't there another way to look at this which claims that the US is already largest, by counting lakes or something? A quite unconventional method but if I recall, the CIA or some agency already does it and perhaps their childish conclusion can help Trump sleep at night without attacking longstanding allies.

by Land O Lakes

Anyway, it's almost now going to be a done deal because Putin just stroked his cock just the way he likes it:

Listen to Donald Trump and you would think Moscow and Beijing were lying in wait off the coast of Greenland, ready to pounce to boost their power in the Arctic.

"There are Russian destroyers, there are Chinese destroyers and, bigger, there are Russian submarines all over the place," President Trump said recently.

That is why, according to America's president, US control of Greenland is essential.

So how do you think Moscow has reacted to its alleged plot being uncovered and potentially thwarted by a US takeover of Greenland?

The Russians can't be pleased. Right?

Wrong.

Not a puppet! 🙄

Congratulations, Trump supporting morons. You’ve brought NaziGermany here. America is dead, and you ignorant ****ing inbred racist idiots killed it.

important lesson

Any newspaper based inside Russia at this point is just a propaganda outlet for the regime, independent news media only operates abroad due to the risks involved if you run afoul of the regime. And right now, reporting facts will make you run afoul of the regime. Russia is not currently a happy country.

So their words must be viewed not only for their content, but also for their intent - which is twofold: Firstly, to provoke Anti-Russian sentiment in Europe so the regime can legitimise its current and future wars. Which, given their lunacy in Ukraine I have no doubts they have plans for on paper, a view backed up by their hybrid warfare on civilian Europe and the US. Secondly, to convey strength, even in the face of stagnant invasion in the west against what was on paper a vastly inferior military nation, now approaching its 4th year in what was supposed to be 3-day operation where thousands of Russian lives are wasted each week.

There is not really much confusion or "at a loss", that is a misunderstanding of the European spirit, which is not cursed with American optimism in these matters (even though that has taken a beating these last years). There is uncertainty on whether the trans-Atlantic alliance has a future, and there is disagreement on how to proceed... which in classic European fashion will trundle along in a great ponderous debate, because while shitty peace sucks, it is seen as preferable to a shitty war. Which is a debatable viewpoint, because we had a shitty peace for 8 years with the Minsk II agreement, and it led to an even shittier war.

Agents of the federal government broke down the doors of an innocent American citizen. If this incident isn’t what the 2nd Amendment was supposed to thwart, then wtf was it for?

If this guy started blasting shots at agents as they entered his home, would a jury convict?

Horrible if the facts are true as we all know CBS likes to edit their stories to make the right look bad .

Funny how the guy heading up ICE is a Nazi but under Obama he got a medal for doing the same job. How about Minneapolis/Minnesota cooperate with Ice and turn over all the illegals in the jails at a current count of 1130 according to DHS

Im sure you want the folks that raided a church during a service breaking a federal law put in place by the democrats all to be federally charged?

I want anyone who breaks the law charged and held accountable you dumb ****. Take your whataboutism deflection bullshit elsewhere.

It is possible to be conservative and also recognize that Trump and all the crap he’s pulling is terrible for the nation. But you’re a dogshit, tribal partisan idiot, so you are incapable of parsing that nuance.

I want anyone that breaks the law charged as well including the ICE officer that killed someone

Actually I think I do and support removing him so I am not tribal. When you said nothing when Obama did it and now are outraged your the tribal one . Still haven't seen one person sent to the gas chambers and more folks died in ICE custody under Obama than have under Trump.

Bari Weiss, the person who took over CBS News late last year, is pro-Trump.

Doing the same job? Knocking down doors without a warrant and kidnapping US citizens in their underwear in -F temps is not doing the same job, derp.

Citizens disrupting a private service is nowhere near the crime of law enforcement violating Constitutional rights, tardo.

You can not be a Nazi unless you killed someone, preferably a Jew, in a gas chamber, huh, loser?

Gov damn, you are a dumb **** piece of ****!

Is your whole family mentally ******ed, or just you?

I have no problem with people being deported if they are here illegally. As long as their rights are not stomped when it happens. (Crazy concept, eh hoser?)

While what Obama did or did not do isn’t at all relevant to this discussion, it should be pointed out that if it were, you have no idea what I said or didn’t say about Obama. So, shut the **** up about that, ******.

I oppose any POTUS under whom civil liberties are trampled. I support any POTUS who enforces the laws within the parameters of our system. Got it, dumb ****?

I know there are right leaning people out there who are not total ****ing idiots. Where are they?

Can we somehow get Trump to get his Maga base to look up on days when it's raining heavily?

If they broke the law, then yes, I do.

It’s called having character and principle. Something you, most Americans and definitely the majority of Trumpers lack and in fact loathe.

Stop posting. You’re a ****ing moron and a shitty person.

Only if there is an eclipse.

Obama was too scared to use the biggest and best-est binoculars.

Reporters without borders lists Russia as 162 out of 180 countries for press freedom. The US ranked as number 57. Not a good score, but people who think the situations are comparable are being willfully ignorant. Independent reports in Russia risk their lives, American independent reporters risk mild discomfort. It is a disservice to independent reporters who report on Russia to pretend the situations are similar.

While you have some budding fascists in the White House who eagerly wants to speed-run the country towards despotism, they're rookies compared to Russia who at this point could paint a swastika across their flag and the only thing they would have to change is some rhetoric.

57 is horrendous and a USAian, the land of the free, pointing at lower ranked countries instead of just being outraged is sad.
