It's tempting to think that all this talk from Trump about the Nobel Peace Prize is trolling, some sort of bit, or strategic distraction, but it seems to me like he is actually butthurt about not winning. He is really that much of a toddler.
While I think Trump is a dedicated and accomplished troll, its also an effective framing technique for him to say something that is immediately hand waved as a trumpism then conveniently they are a couple steps closer to actually doing it with their base now effectively supporting the activity that they are saying he would never do

I mentioned this several years ago as a dangerous tactic by Trump. He frames authoritarian suggestions X, Y, and Z as jokes or trolling, but his actual goal is for those suggestions to work their way into the lizard brains of his supporters. Then, a year later, we start hearing that "a lot of people are saying X, Y, and Z." Then, a year after that, we start hearing that we have to do X, Y, or Z because the public demands it.
