30 NL Double Barrel monontone turn vs shorter stack?
The villain was basically a maniac 49/ 29/ 16 with a respectable CB% of 65 over 150 hands
The check - raise on the flop seemed fine, but now I have top pair on the trn + str8 draw. Still, does that matter on this turn? It seems WA/ WB, and I can already be drawing dead on this mono board. Maybe I should just check- call a bet vs a very aggressive player who's probably bluffing a lot?

Check-Call would be the only option that makes sense in this situation. The idea is that after you check raise flop and get called, top pair and good second pair hands are too middle of range to do anything with. These hands are too good to bluff, but not good enough to continue inflating the pot against an already filtered range.
A very clean, easy heuristic to stick by when you're still learning, is after you XR and get called, on the turn bet around pot with 2pair+ for value, and high equity draws as bluffs. Check everything else. All decent pairs/pair+draw hands can go into check call, and all complete hopeless crap can check fold.
It's worth noting that the more going on with the board, the higher your threshold should be for value betting and bluffing. For example in this hand there are many flushes and straights possible so instead of 2P+ for value you might want to go sets+ for value, and bluff with less reverse implied odds draws.
Hopefully these heuristics allow for higher confidence in these spots.
