The few funny parts it had were pretty funny. Especially the scenes with Tatum and Dinklage.

I will see anything if only for Aubrey Plaza

A Nic Roeg film I saw on release. Much anticipated after films like Bad Timing, The Man Who Fell To Earth, Don't Look Now etc, but I found it disappointing.

Caught a good chunk of this tonight. LOL—BIBO = American Me - all the good scenes from (American Me+Colors+Heat+Training Day+Bad Boys ‘83+The Longest Yard ‘74) + (The Jericho Mile x a Telenova version of Friday) + tattoos by a 75yo white woman who’s favorite movie was The Wild Bunch—but oddly compelling in a sorta Springbreakersy way. Did a get a glimpse of the hillside neighborhood where Smiley lived, which was nice.

One of my favourite films, it's awesome.

American Me is also really good although I prefer Blood in Blood Out personally.

It actually led to several murders of those involved in the production, as the real Mexican mafia weren't keen on their leader's portrayal in the film.

Think I saw American Me once when I was a kid and it scared the crap out of me. It's probably the reason why I always had an irrational fear of going to prison lol Didn't realize the dark past it had, and that guys were killed because of it.

Apparently Edward James Olmos had to carry a gun for awhile due to the Mexican Mafia wanting to whack him. Danny Trejo states he intervened and basically saved Olmos' life.

Jericho Mile & Longest Yard made prison seem almost kinda like summer camp.

I have zero knowledge of running a website, but launched one for my movie podcast which has been more or less dormant for the last couple of years. We're looking to change that. Some health issues have kept me from being able to create content but as I find a comfort zone I'm getting back into the saddle. We posted an episode last week and I wrote an article here talking about the rise of Native Representation in film. I'm proud of this one and will look to fill the site with content as I return to better health and comfort.

I have been watching nothing but Christmas movies since Thanksgiving and have come to a conclusion. A Wonderful Life is the pinnacle. I watched a bunch of Hallmark style crap, all of the classics (Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, Elf, National Lampoon, Christmas Story etc etc etc) and I have seen them all too many times. But Wonderful Life which I have to have seen at least 50 times holds my full attention every time. I am fully engaged. The others? They turn into background noise and I start surfing the internet. James Stewart and Donna Reed are pure magic!

Watched Roofman last night. Not sure what to think of it.

I mean, it kept me engaged, but not engrossed. I'm pretty sure I hadn't heard the story before, but it seemed pretty obvious how it was going to end once the setup was in place.

I wonder how much of this story was tarted up by Hollywood.

I watched Miracle on 34th street for the first time last night. It's a very good film and not nearly as corny as one might expect. It was also a surprise that the little girl in the film is played by Natalie Wood.

Not a movie, so sue me. But the Christmas episode of the Jack Benny Show is excellent. Seems like the whole thing was done live in one take. Mel Blanc steals the show.

Little Big Man (1970)
121 year old Jack Crab (Dustin Hoffman) and sole white survivor of the Battle of Little Big Horn, regales historian William Hickey with his life story and odyssey through the wild west, after being raised by Native Americans, meeting various colourful characters along the way, including wild Bill Hickok and a loony George Armstrong Custer. Hadn't seen this in a good 20 years and it's still an awesome film and basically kinda weirdly comes across as a western version of Forrest Gump. Recommended and available free on YT

I love Little Big Man. It's adapted from a novel by Thomas Berger that is also excellent.
