Whether you think it’s good or bad for Trump/Hegseth to be blowing these speed boats out of the water, how do they

I just realized that Caribbean is misspelled in the thread title.

Right maybe this was just an aberration

Oh and they were so mad they threw the whistleblower in jail for a few years.

Victor is so stupid he highlighted the limited time period qualifier of the quoted percentage. You can’t make this stuff up.

right those 5 months were just a fluke.

Guys, we’re getting off topic here. Mason specifically said that he didn’t want to talk about whether it was right or wrong to blow up boats thousands of miles away from the country and refuse to provide even the barest scintilla of evidence to support the claims that they are full of drugs. Can anyone please shed anymore light on why people would even try this des

The time-tested method to get people to do things is to ask them to do it for payment. If risk increases, the traditional approach is to increase pay.

If there is insufficient competition to your product, costs incurred due to increased risk and wages will be relayed to the consumer. Since drug use is often addictive, they will pay.

You're changing the subject and conflating things.

I've been perfectly consistent, you're just kinda dumb and bloodthirsty.

Most of the drug trade is through Mexico over land, which will continue to be the case regardless of how successful the military operations in the Caribbean are. In fact, if the operation is successful, more of the trade will just switch to overland routes.

These strikes aren't really about that. Iran, Venezuela, Russia and other BRIC nations have a very large black fleet narco petroleum terrorism operation that these regimes use to prop up their own dictatorships and fund militias that destabilize large blocks of Africa, the ME and the Americas. To keep the supply of worldwide petroleum steady, the rest of the world lets most of this go on in plain site.

These strikes are about cutting off the legs of this operation in the Caribbean, with the ultimate goal being the capitulation of the illegitimate and highly unpopular Maduro regime. Which would be a fairly big blow to BRICS operations in the Western Hemisphere.

I suspect much of the negotiations with Putin are about Russia (and Iran) abandoning Maduro in exchange for Trump pressuring Ukraine and Europe to make concessions in Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

That’s how statistics work in Vic’s world. You take a cherry picked stat and then lie and claim it applies to his eight year term. When confronted, double down on the lie.

how stats work for liberals? just toss out the ones we dont like.

I pointed this out before and he doesn’t care.

you gave no reason why that was an aberration let alone a compelling reason. like, we are just supposed to take it on faith that liberal hero Obama just did an oopsie for 5 months and the rest of the time they were hitting at like 99%? its so unfathomable to you guys that America and its liberal politicians are psychopathic mass murderers on par with the worst nations in history that you guys just throw all critical thinking out the window and instead choose to believe in fairy tales.

by Victor

choose to believe in fairy tales.

He says while believing that Russian rapists and murderers are freeing Ukraine from Nazis lmao....

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed yesterday? lol I'm inferring you're coming at me w/o even trying to actually comprehend what I'm saying, because you didn't like what I said in another thread (I/P), and now you're resorting to name calling.

Bro, you're not even understanding what I've been trying to establish. Do you understand how to establish a baseline between differences of opinion? I was never saying to stop there, but to find something that both sides could agree with, and you just went at me like I was saying we should be randomly blowing people out of the water. I even said I agree with your position, but that doesn't have anything to do w/ what I was posting about.

You just came at me from post one w/o even comprehending what I was posting about, not to mention saying you needed due process in a *claimed* situation by the defense department that doesn't apply. They are claiming defensive use of force, which you wouldn't need due process for. I was never saying they were correct, and I was never at any point justifying what they were doing.

Slow your roll.

You can whine all you like, but there is no moral or legal justification for these extrajudicial murders.

It is meaningless to analyze the drug trade or illicit petroleum trade as "terrorism". Terrorism outside colloquial use is a fairly specific thing with fairly specific motivations and patterns, and these are not present here. There is drug trade and oil trade that funds terrorism, but this tends to stem from very specific markets.

The drug trade follows classic market mechanisms to a tee, and the illicit petroleum trade is much of the same, with some politicking thrown in for good measure. There is a lot of money that has to run smoothly for these things take place. If you want to fight either, get crack forensic accountants on the case and the necessary teams to back them up, instead of daydreaming power fantasies and wasting billions on stopping a few drug boats. Of course, doing so could mean uncovering which people the money goes through and ends up with, which means a lot of corrupt people would oppose it vehemently.

It also makes no sense to use cold war style geopolitical analysis on the Trump administration. These are people steered by corruption, chasing clout on social media and personal ambition who also happen to be very, very stupid. They are not motivated by national or state interests.

It's not necessarily about being stupid of course, it's about contorting events to fit the narrative you want, which we all do to one degree or another. You get out of balance when you're not open to any information at all the counters your personal narrative / world view, and that's basically where Vic lives.

In this specific case, he wants to pretend like there aren't operations within the bigger context of wars or theater events that go horribly bad and are outliers to the entire war / theater, because it fits the narrative he wants. All other counter data is ignored or dismissed as lies and cover-ups, and there's no legit search for truth. Which in this whistleblower case, it would be pretty easy to see this guy cherry-picked data, as he had access to much more information beyond these 5 months, but he only leaked the worst parts of these reports.

At this point, you either have exceptionally poor reading comprehension, or just aren't reading what I'm writing, because as I've said 3x now, I 100% agree with you. But that has nothing to do w/ what I originally posted, and nothing to do with the points I was raising.

You said

How about we get confirmed military intelligence on these boats, and carry out targeted strikes of confirmed narco cartel, and if there are survivors of strikes w/ no boat left, we follow military code of conduct in order to help keep our own military safe as well?

And the answer is: no, we should not be doing that.

I can see I'm wasting my time, as you aren't understanding that post at all. Again... baseline based on accepting what the DOD as true, that they are narco and a threat to US security. I was neither claiming this was justified or true.

I'm pretty confident you didn't like what I said in I/P thread and went off in here because you think I'm "blood thirsty" or whatever, which couldn't be further from the truth. You misconstrued those posts w/ this one thinking I was all for extrajudicial killings, which I'm not.

But, whatever... I'm done.

Drug smuggling isn't "terrorism" or a threat to national security and being a drug mule isn't a capital offense. The DoD should not be doing law enforcement and it should not be executing people in the Caribbean.

Only an idiot like Vic wouldn’t recognize that, of course, the aberration is what makes in newsworthy.

only an idiot would think that those 5 months werent an indication of what was happening the rest of the time.

So you feel supremely confident that 90% of the casualties from the Obama era drone strikes were unitnded victims. Got it. The rare triple down.

The most unfavorable interpretation of the numbers would have ~800 civilian deaths out of ~3800

Unintended kills doesn’t mean innocent people anyway. It’d need a further argument to establish that.
