This whole OU Womens Studies essay saga is the perfect microcosm that is MAGA ******ation and hypocrisy.
They literally want "DEI" for ******ed religious white people to be able to succeed in college
The poorly written transphobia also seems intentional considering the students mother is an inflammatory J6 MAGA lawyer
lol bro you support the main purveyor of violence, torture, persecution, and concentration camps in the history of mankind.
its just another flavor of the liberal mantra that says "its ok when we do it. " Im sorry but when you support the USA, and iirc actually served in a NATO Army, then you dont get to criticize and lecture others on human rights.
what’s your evidence of that?
We can No True Scotsman this stuff until the cows come home. And we can talk about the evils of capitalism and Western democracies until the cows come home. Neither tactic changes the fact that countries that have self-identified as communist (whether they met the Cambridge dictionary definition of communism or not) were responsible for some horrible atrocities in the 20th ce
Nevertheless, as you mention it, it's a fact that the USSR was a very long way removed from Communism, and only people who've never read Marx would believe otherwise.
Fog of war? Seriously? You bombed a boat and saw there were survivors so you ordered them dead.

Tillis, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said Trump’s pardon of Hernandez, who was convicted in June of 2024 of conspiring to distribute more than 400 tons of cocaine and accepting millions of dollars in bribes from traffickers to facilitate the shipment of those drugs, was completely at odds with Trump’s efforts to interdict drug-smuggling boats from Venezuela.

This is true of most every government that has ever identified itself as communist. And it almost certainly will be true of any government that identifies itself as communist in the future. It's almost as if there is a pattern.

Doesn't there being no such thing as a Communist government makes it inaccurate to describe governments in that way?
I'd argue that Cuba came closest (in modern times) but failed to liberate its people from dictatorship and failed to liberate all of its criminals with one way tickets to the US but on the other hand every single adult was paid the same amount by the government, and was guaranteed quotas of rice, and everyone knows its adult literacy and child health were among the best in the world.
There were an awful lot of street musicians though.
all of these countries are Communist in some ways and all of them achieved great victories for their people and all of them, despite not being perfect, are infinitely better than the rape murder genocide countries of the West.

I didn't express any opinion about whether any particular government adhered strictly to communism as defined by Karl Marx. My point was that the governments that claimed to be standard bearers for communism have a poor track record.
Lots of good quotes from the Tehran conference
Reportedly Josef Stalin was once asked at the Potsdam Conference at Malta with Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Winston Churchill, how he knew that he would become ruler of the Soviet Union. Stalin says that God came to him in a vision and told him so. FDR turns to Stalin, and says, "Now wait a minute Joe, I never said any such thing!"
ya apparently FDR and Uncle Joe were pretty tight
If democracy continues to whither and die then I wonder if we will prefer authorsuanism that 'self identifies' as democratic, facist or communist

Your 'superiority' thingy earlier made me think of the Douglas Adams joke which I shall paraphrase
D2 thinks he is is superior to chezlaw because of his accurate use of spelling and grammar. Chezlaw on the other think he is superior to D2. And for exactly the same reason.

You are truly an endless font of English aphorisms. I at least understand the point of this one, which is progress.
In fairness to you, I have known at least one highly intelligent person in a professional capacity who refused to be bothered with grammar or typos in email communications. Clients, work colleagues, the government. It didn't matter. He was typing blindfolded as best I could tell, and he certainly wasn't proofreading the email before he hit send.
