235lbs to 180lbs 40 y.o.
Hi, kind of had a moment today and realized I have to take myself serious or more serious in the physical part of life. Going to log calories I'm 235lbs and hoping to eat around 1500 cals a day. Started yesterday. Going to log just calorie total here.

1200 cals
good luck. maybe give the fans the results of a weekly weigh in too?

2,000 cals
Hehe, I'm not going to weigh myself... Just going to try and hit like plateaus. If I eat like 1750 cals everyday I should be at my goal in about 10 months.
I found it so much more motivating to measure (and learn from) the weekly progress
Tbh, I still weigh every day and then I track and record the highest and lowest weight each week. Helps keep me accountable
I don't want to weight myself. I just do eye test and weigh occasionally.
I honestly don't have a scale and am moving next month to a shelter so my mindset is geared this way or I probably would but my mindset is thinking to be healthy and not glued into the scale. It's a different way of thinking about it.
1500? Is this a cafeteria for ants?
How tall are you?
And what is "serious in the physical part of life"? I'm curious, not gonna proselytize.

It’s your journey, so you do what you feel is right and I wish you all the best
But for me, the weight tracking is really motivating. I don’t count calories and macros at all tbh, as I don’t like living life that way. I just eat less and eat good as much as possible.
That's a similar attitude and I realized only human so checking scale does help. I'm trying to lock in and just get through it only 4 days in wanting to get down and in like 8 months start working out once money is in.

1,800 cals
What made you conclude you only need 1500-1750 cals per day?

That is certainly a different way of thinking.
You might want to consider doing it the way that past successful people have already done it.
It might be more creative and groundbreaking to just get an apartment and not be able to afford calories instead of doing the shelter thing. It is much easier to lose weight if you can't buy calories

That might seem mean if you don't do sarcasm. I do wish you the best, but you should maybe possibly consider just copying the paths of others who have succeeded.
There is a time to be creative and losing weight isn't really one of them. Maybe write a poem or a song if you want to be creative. You write coherently and I would enjoy reading a nice story, so there is that.
I'd offer a weight loss challenge bet to help both of us, but I only play against well-to-do people. We could do a gentleman's bet to motivate the both of us, but you don't have a scale

LoL.
I am in a specific situation where it makes sense to move... I " think." I'm a poker pro with no family and I'm going from NY to write requests for Global. I get $1075 in a.s.i. and I'm putting $800 of it towards the postage each month so basically like 850 $5 requests. It takes about 4 months for each batch to hit you Global account so I'm planning on staying there a year and once the first batch comes in financing an s.u.v. and than reinvesting the months prior till my 42nd bday in February 2027. You have to hit a play through in order to receive each $5 request so it isn't guaranteed but it should be easy for me to hit it. By the end of the year (2027) I'm hoping to have enough for a roll for the $2/$5 plo game at the aria plus be in good shape. I am undecided really to just keep writing like 75 requests a day and grinding online as I write them or going to vegas... But, I'm super bored and I really don't know if I could make the 4 months waiting period from February when I start writing them or if I should just try grinding up a roll by playing micro stakes... I actually just before turned $20 into $220 on GG the games are good and just try to make like $12k and go to Vegas to grind $1/$3 before (hoping) to grind a roll up for the $2/$5 Aria plo game. I could get into govt housing for disabled people (I'm schizophrenic) but it'll take up to a year BUT, I could just commit to that because I'm not nervous about being in the homeless shelter in Portland but just the waiting for that first batch of requests. Thank you for your reply it made like a "spark," in my brain that made me realize that it'll probably be a much better idea to do the 2nd option. Plus, as I was typing that I realized a serious diet takes A LOT of willpower and energy/determination so I rather just grind and stay here anyway for that reason I wasn't really realizing how hard it might be to lose the weight.
Sorry to be long winded. As for the diet I'm learning again to be or rather it's helping me to learn how to deal with being uncomfortable and how good food tastes when your really hungry.

For $1/$3 to build a roll for the $2/$5 Aria game. I'm undecided really on what to do.
Hope you have a great night.

You too, too new buddy. Having a stable income for necessary expenses makes it easier to play poker. You can't build a roll if you are spending it on living.
Given that you said you have mental health problems, it is probably best to take the easy route. You are already playing the game of life on hard mode and there aren't any extra bonuses for making it more risky.
Good job on starting the diet! Try to keep in mind that if you mess up, it doesn't mean that you just get to give up. Obviously, try not to mess up, but the important part is to not give up if you do.
"Undecided" is a good place. Just keep grinding. It gives you the best chance of being ok.

Yes, I'm planning with this in mind. $12k should be enough if I go that route.
Both ways are easy in they're own way. Like, I said I'm undecided atm.
This is true.
Thank you my bro.
Working at Starbucks definitely better than 1-3nl/2-5nl.
I have never met a single human being that made a living at 2-5nl. Is it even possible? Let's take a great win rate such as 10bb per 100 hands. Live that's 3.33bbs per hour. After tokes, thats 15 bucks an hour. With variance, can easily lose for a whole month. Live players act like they can win 10bb per hour?!!!! That's 33bb/100!!!!! Is that even possible if you were to get AA everything, i dont know I dont recall my winrate per hand with AA.
Kill me first.
Unfortunately I cannot give any advice for someone dealing with schizophrenia. Seems like addressing that would be the first step even though I dont even know if thats possible.
PS That's the issue with live poker. +EV you can play maybe 6 hands an hour. LOL WTF. That's like watching paint dry. Poker and video games are possibly the worst time wasters in the history of mankind. Online poker on the other hand was possibly the greatest advantage play ever. Unfortunately poker is solved so playing online you most likely playing a bot or Magnus Carlsen. They dont play chess online for money so why do they play poker (lol).
