Way too early (November), but I can't help myself!
Heading to Vegas Nov. 18 through Nov. 25. My dad and his wife will be there, and the trip is meant to spend time with th
Got my ass kicked, but had so much fun! I definitely made some calls that I should not have made, but I ran pretty bad. Really nice group of guys. Well run room. Good dealers. Worst red wine so far, though. However, the duck burrito was fantastic!

Basically took care of my sick husband yesterday and then hung out with the family. No gambling. We did do the all you can eat sushi at Kimchi again. It was very good. I love it that they use so little little rice.
Playing for a few hours at the Aria today. 5/5 $10 rock. I was down to 300 bucks for my $1500 buy-in and then tripled up once and then was almost even.
Move to main game. 3bet pre with Ad5dAc3s for $615. Original raiser goes all in for ~$400 with 47AhKh, my husband calls with double suited black 679J. He had called original $135 and was last act. Flop comes 4h6hJ. I shove ~$600. Run out has a heart and I lose to both of them. Fun times.

Played a little 1/3 after that until it was time to pick dad up. They were running late so I ordered food. It took an hour and a half for me! I ordered it at 3:15. Hubby went to get them then came back for me. Was up a little.
Headed back to dad's suite to play cards, drink wine, and eat my meal. I was starving. Instead of going out, we later ordered pizza from Tony's. I am not a connoisseur, but it was really good.

After pizza, we ubered to the Wynncore. While waiting for PLO, Pete sat in 5/10 and I sat in 2/5. He won a couple thousand. I held my own, but the young woman to my left kept sucking out on me.
Finally moved to PLO, but again could not get anything going. Terrible cards, missing flops, you all know how it goes. Lost $1,000 [emoji20] Hubby was up, though.
Had a fun hand where I raised UTG to 15 with 7h9dThJd. I get a couple of callers, and then the short stack 3bets. I shove, everyone folds, and he calls for less. Everyone at the table thought we had aces versus aces. He had something like 78KA. He hits trip 8s on the top board, but I get a straight and I hit two Js on the bottom board to scoop.
At the airport. Sad to leave. It sucked to miss a day of poker on Sunday, but it was nice to take care of my husband and to see my dad and his wife.
I was down about $1,000 for the trip, and hubby was close. Together we were down ~$2,000, but that includes tips, cabs, blackjack, etc.
Next time.

thanks for the write up. hope you enjoyed the vacation!
Update: My husband is terrible at keeping track of how much he wins/loses. Turns out we still hand an extra $1, 000 in cash, so down only ~$1, 000 (mostly me this time)! Always nice to wake up to 😉
Also, my dad and his wife used the monorail to get from the Hilton near Westgate to MGM for the basketball yesterday and it was perfect for them. (We dropped them off on Monday.) My dad is 87 and has Parkinson's, plus low blood pressure, so it's not easy for them to get around. I'm so glad we were able to get them a nice suite with easy access to the basketball! Plus, their team, KU, won both games so far, and a childhood friend of his wife is in Vegas and invited them to their Airbnb in Henderson for Thanksgiving, so they are really excited!
Oh, the NLHE hand from the beginning of my trip, which I don't actually mind so much looking back at it:
I have been raising quite a bit and fairly aggressive, but I've had some decent hands. Folds to me on BTN, and I (~$400) raise to $10 w/ AhKs. BB (covers slightly) 3bets to $50. I think he's full of it. I should just 4bet, but since I thought he was making a play and I didn't want him to fold, I flat. In hindsight, with my reputation, a 4bet would have been ideal. Duh.
Flop: QsJh9h ($100)
BB bets $60, I flat planning to bluff a good turn.
Turn: QsJh9h 5h ($280)
BB checks, I bet $125 w/ ~$150 behind. Maybe I should have shoved? Thoughts? I thought "committing" w/ $125 looked stronger.
River: QsJh9h 5h Qd
BB checks. Hero? Check back or shove?
at that point I'd just shove. though I probably would just shove the turn instead
Might be a give up spot? Lots of 3-betting hands connect with that flop. The check on the turn may indicate fear of the flush, but could still be a very strong hand like KT, JJ, or 99. None of that stuff is likely to fold on the river for $150 more, and we do have the slightest amount of showdown value against super busted draws. Beyond that, the paired board is actually bad to bluff in these spots because a hand like AJ or JT that was already behind Qx will be less likely to give you credit for a queen. Add it all up and I just don't think a bluff makes a lot of sense. Villain did 3-bet pre, bet flop, and call turn. I don't know how often they really fold to that river for such a small sizing. At that point we don't really have enough remaining in the stack to apply proper pressure.
Curious to know how it went though!
I always enjoy reading one of your TRs-it’s always positive and fun, irrespective of the results. Exactly how a trip to Vegas should be!
I tried Howlin Rays on my last trip and it was awesome. May have to try some of the other places you mentioned on my next trip.
Thanks again for letting us follow along.
Thanks for reading. I wish we had made it to Jipata, but it was much more fun hanging out in the suite and playing cards -- good family time.
As to the hand, I thought, he's never folding a Q, but I shoved anyway. He had Q9. LOL. Oh, well. Nice check on the river. I kicked myself for not using my image and 3betting pre. Same result if he called, but I'd feel better about it 😉
Well, let's hope last night is an indication of how my poker continue (forever, preferably). I was binking everything and making a few good bluffs. Playing 1/2 NLHE w/ a PLO DBBP every round followed by two hands of PLO, 9 handed.
Home game?
Getting Smokey in the picture was one of life’s happy accidents. One of the few good things about camera phones.
NLH-hand:
As played I would 100% shove the turn with added equity, plus we need to promote fold-equity with a pot-sized jam. And if he calls we have outs to improve.
Pre-flop depends on what you think of the opponent I guess. I wouldn't love getting AKo in pre around 130 bb deep in Vegas versus most nitty opponents, but there are definitely exceptions.
