JJ gets x/red on flop, turns top set on 3-flush turn
1/2 NL. Main villain UTG+1 seems competent for the stakes. Raises quite a bit rather than limping. He has about 220 and I cover.
Hero raises UTG to 10 with JsJh, UTG+1 and BB call. Flop (26) is Td7c6d. x, hero cbets 15, UTG+1 raises to 40, fold, hero calls. Think I am supposed to check that flop, and maybe should have. Maybe bet partly because opponents were passive. Could also just fold to the raise.
Turn (104) is Jd for Td7c6dJd, hero checks, UTG+1 bets 40, hero?

I would probably check the flop, but betting can't be bad. Bet-calling is kind of dicey without the Jd for this very reason, though -- one of the two cards that improves your hand also brings in the most obvious semi-bluff.
Once he same-bets the turn, I think you have a pretty easy decision though. I would check-raise all-in and try to stack a smaller set or a hand like AdTx or QdQx if he plays those hands this way. I really don't think he has a flush when he bets this size, and you have equity against a flush anyway. He might even fold 98ss, which is obviously incredible.
I actually check raised allin. Results later.
Yeah, when he same bet, I thought he didn't have the flush. Wanted to gii against 2-pair or a set, and didn't want to give a diamond a free card. It was actually a little hard for him to have 2-pair or a set with a flush draw. Figured I was 23% with 10 outs against a flush.
He folded 9c8c face up, which shocked me. Someone said "good fold". He was already short and he and I had both been losing. He rebought and seemed to think he had to deal with bad luck.
I would probably bet/call with a flush draw, and might shove to get the money in and protect against another diamond or the board pairing. If I had a set on the flop, I probably would have 3! with the wet board. So hard for him to think I had turned top set. Would I crai with a bare Ad? So not many hands I could do that with that weren't flushes. He was drawing dead 0% against a flush. So IMO he probably should have called with the straight, and I wouldn't have snap folded and showed like he did, but it was a close decision for him.
Fist pump jam and say “if you got it you got it” or “yess faded the snap call”. Unless he snap calls.
Nice hand. Good example of why it's usually better to bet big or check turns as IP. If he bets big, you probably flat and he wins the hand a lot of the time. If he checks and the river is clean, you probably put out a reasonable valuable bet and he calls and wins.
Was actually thinking that this would be a cool sizing to take with the nuts as an exploit.
Yeah, his same bet ip was pretty bad. It was sort of face up he had a big hand but not a good flush. It was also bad to snap fold. Yeah, his play might have been good to induce with the nut flush.
If I had Ad, I might have x/shoved that too. However, I really thought he probably had a set and was going to call. Partly he called preflop UTG+1, so I thought he would have pps a lot, and I thought he would check back 2-pair on that turn.
I think his fold is actually good in the long run. However, I would also take his sizing with a flush. I'd just pitch your hand on the flop. I don't mind bet folding given the stakes.
